well this is what i was thinking...im doing it becaues i just wanna try. go get 1/8th ' thick wood. i was thinking hawaiian koa. but as vernier. so basically ply and it will have grain crossing back and forth. extra strenght. then put maybe three sheets together right. but in between each sheet fiber glass cloth even more strength and then finish it with fiber glass body. good idea or bad idea? remember im just trying to have fun.

yeah thats what i thought...i doubt they would last long but it would be sick to ride your own. for a day or two. if i think edges would have to fiber glassed on with it then sand down excess fiber glass to the edge. how bout some other ideas here!

I wen tot he volant factory once. It looked at though you would put down you ptex and add this glue stuff. then, the edges have little cutouts that go in between the ptex and the next laye to hold them in. Then comes the core, surrounded by any fiberglass or anything else you want to add. A cap ski would be hard to make without a press. I woud go for sidewall. Glue on your topsheet and then use ptex like 4frnt does for side wall. You could probably press it flat, the use boiling water to heat the tips, then bend them. this is just what i was thinking. I think it would be cool to ride somethign you made too. I would take some edges of an old pair of skis you get for cheap at a yard sale. just take the ski apart.

PLEATH! SNOWBEH! NO!!!

yeah i was thinking of making some old school skis twins so will boiling water or fire work. if fire, do i need special gloves and shit.

pretty sick

YOu need to use a blowtorch or a big pot of boiling water that you leave the ski tip in for like 10 minutes.

3 minutes was clearly not enough.

join the skimaking cult

skiing should be like mcdonalds...sure they started out with just hamburgers, them they progressed to breakfest sandwiches and salads and mcflurries. we all love the new stuff, but we still love the old stuff as well. so its a good thing they still offer

just go in the washington forum and look at the post titled "stumpysticks" by brit1725. he's made, and is making some more sweet skis
