'How to make NS great again' suggestion thread

here is a list of my current ideas, add yours.

-Deport all mexicans on NS. There probably aren't any but it's a start.

-be more offensive

-be less offended

-extra guac

-bring back stept, inspired, and faction collective. this would just make skiing, in general, better. also, wednesdays with wallisch.

-get kids hooked on newschoolers earlier. introduce them to crack and at the same time show them the site, i.e classical conditioning. NS will then be a conditioned stimulus to crack, causing kids to use the site addictively. Bonus: selling crack to pre-teens is a great source of revenue for the site.

-free extra guac

-non ski gabber forum needs to be a fucking lawless jungle full of degenerates. spice it up boys

-seize the means of production

-seize the production of memes.

-stop complaining about NS not being great again **introspection intensifies**

make b/s/t better. Let me sort things for sale by type, by brand, by age, and any other plausible options. come up with a real seller rating system. Because there are a ton of people skiing, and honestly NS is probably still the best place to buy or trade used gear or even brand new shit that is just a great deal. I've never found better deals than here, after many years and searching for many different things.

Its a legit niche that isn't being filled at all.
 
as a real world example: I ended up teaching my gf and 2 of her roommates how to ski this winter. Within a few trips they all needed a lot of shit, and the roommates gave up because they didn't want to spend a ton on decent shit, or be cheap for brand new walmart quality crap. I bought them gloves, jackets, goggles, and a few other things on NS for about $250 in the end. It would have been over $600 for the exact same items in stores or online, and almost everything was in great condition.

But they never would have found ns bst on their own.

i dont know, the dating forum would have to be set up in a way where you can introduce yourself, share your interests, etc. so i think that i would have to get to know someone first.

If bst became more like a ski craigslist that people knew to go to to get ski things, those people create accounts, become active in forums, and Ns gains a larger membership and more activity.

There used to be tons of people on here, but they grew older, gained responsibilities, and cut off the excess in their lives, sad to say. I think what's really needed is more people, and for that NS needs more promotion.

NS is hard to find. Before I came to this website, I had heard about it twice, one person mentioning the website made it past our school's firewall in 2011, and a friend joking about it in 2015. To this day, I have never seen the NS logo on anywhere outside of the NS website. This is probably the dumb answer, but why not try to gain more IRL exposure by hosting an event, sponsoring skiers, or something along those lines?

That is actually quite a fair point, one which we've already started to do a lot about.

Many years ago, we did a ton of it. We stopped for reasons too long to bother discussing.

However, this year we re-launched Merch which sold a couple thousand items, we gave away a bazillion stickers on the site, we have now been running the Tell A Friend Tour (which gives out bazillions of stickers), we ran First Chair Festival, our branding was all over Dew Tour, we've sponsored events and we're producing all kinds of our own content with pros.

Team is not a bad idea, might do that one too.

I think the posts above where we need to get the fuck out of 2009 and get a fucking app to market are spot on. Newschoolers the website needs to die, and newschoolers the app is the phoenix that rises out of the ashes.

Maybe if we do that, and mix it with the IRL shit on afterburners we might just make a dent.

i mean... look at reddit. Hugely popular with desktop users. What are they doing so right? An app would be nice, but i think the bigggest reason for this downturn is that the hypeness that used to surround skiing is nowhere close to what it used to be.

When i was 15, x-games stars were icons to me and my skier friends. We knew every up and coming pro, we watched and bought every ski movie we could, we fantasized about becoming pro skiers. And NS was packed with orange names. Here on this website, we could talk to our sports heroes unlike almost any other sport ive ever seen.

Now, highschool skiers could give 2 shits about who is the next up and coming skier. They love edits, but now the focus is on filming and developing themselves. The same shit happened with the music industry. Technology allowed people to become a core part of the entertainment element of the sport, instead of being limited to consuming it. And ns was centered around consumption of ski media, be it in pics, vids or threads.
