How to light up an urban set for filming

Last season a friend and i used 2 heavy duty lights (with 2 25m extension cords) when what we were hitting didnt have a lamp post nearby, but obviously not having a generator, finding power was pretty impossible, unless you'd go to the owner of the house and ask him for power for some light to grind his fence (altho we did plug it in a church once, worked nicely).

So apart from getting better lenses, do you guys have any good ways to light up urban (cos last year filming with my friends canon 60d with a regulat lens, tye footage wasnt really enjoyable due to a lack of lighting)

Oh n hitting it before dark is not an option, busy town with people who dont like urban skiing much...

Your only real option is to buy a generator. They're pretty fucking bulky and loud but unless you have a ton of extension cords and a power strip, you won't be able to get power from anywhere.

I tried using my car as a third set of lights shooting urban this year, but it only lasted about an hour in the cold. I have a good battery, too. Also, it wasn't even as bright as the other lights that we had set up, anyway, so it's not worth risking a dead car for not much light.

Hmm ill look into the generator but thats gotta be pretty pricy...i dunno much bout dslr (only have a shitty gopro thats not even as good as my phone) but would it be worth it getting a special night lens (do those even exist?)
