How to kill yourself in Finland

And another case.

Father shot his three children born in 07-09 with a .22 then shot himself yesterday, found by the mother in their home. No suicide note or known motive.

For every1 who is thinking "why they dont go and get help". Thats not so easy in Finland. We have some kind of thing, that you have to be strong, and people see getting help as a mark of weakness. Like u can get bullied in school if you are getting help for problems

Totally depends on where you live, of course, at least around here it's very acceptable and encouraged to get help and less a social stigma of being a failure or being crazy if you are troubled. But on the other hand, it's not easy or fast to get help.

What the actual... That's so fucked up. Putting Findland on a list of places I probably shouldn't go to.. Sorry all you Fins who aren't psychopaths. No offense to ya.

A year or 2 ago where I live there were like 5 or 6 girls within the space of a year all committed suicide, they didn't even all know each other, ranged from 13 years old to like 19.

I think when one person does it seems sort of okay in someone's mind if they're already seriously messed up and they start to look at it as a normal solution.

It doesn't happen in Finland alone, i'd say in Nothern/West Europe it's becoming increasingly popular over the last decade. And spin doctors over here created such a nice and softening term for it: "Familiedrama met dodelijke afloop" which translates into "Family tragedy with deadly ending."

We even have a wiki with all the cases:

http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Familiedrama_met_dodelijke_afloop

(Beware it's in Dutch.)

Quite often the father commits the crime, and he is usually depressed because of any sort of occasion (get fired, etc..)

wow, why would he do that. if you want to suicide, that's one thing; but taking your whole family with you is on a new level of selfishness. does he just assume that if he doesn't want to live, the rest of his family won't want to live either? i've always thought scandinavia is a sleepy and laid back place
