Ok I was reading the thread a while back about how many spins people could do and I felt so white since i can barely getta 450 around and I'm 6'4 and can barely get rim

So I was just wondering are there any exercises or work outs that will improve your jumping ability? and what mussel(sp) makes it so you can jump higher?

and how high can you all jump?

steps to jump higher:
1. go to paint store
2. obtain black paint
3. roll in said paint
4. go to bball courts
5. go up to young african americans and procede to shoot multiple
6. listen to dead body disposal by necro, follow directions in song
7. you have now become black
8. test out your new found skills
9. realize that you can now jump almost 2 feet higher
10. am i going to hell for this? yes. i am.

That made me lol but not quite what I was looking for lol

not that the obvious racial comment is out of the way...anyone else?

hang snatches, they work on the muscle for exsplosiveness thats on top of your knee on the front of your leg *forgot what its called*

lean against a wall in a sitting position, then jump as high as you can, thrusting your outstretched hands up like you're superman. can't remember what that excersise is called but it will help build explosive leg power, which is a great way to increase your jumping height. you should see at least a small improvement after only two weeks of doing 3 sets of 15 reps each, every other day.

rest your toes on a step, with your heels hanging out over the edge. lift yourself onto your tip-toes, then drop down so your heels are below your toes. repeat this process for 3 sets of 30 reps every day.

if you had only said the first 3 it would have been funny anyway my friend has this thing called air assault i think? but its a dvd you can buy that guarantees you to gain at least half a foot or something onto your jump... this is the first result on google:http://jumphigherguide.com/

I heard that calf exercises work really well...like going up on your toes and coming back down(w/e thats called) about 200x a day

Find something thats about 2-3 feet off the ground to start with and stand about a foot back from it. without running or anything jump onto it and lamd softly. Do this like30 times a day and increase the height as you go. It helps a ton

You wouldn't really need to work on your calves as much but more your quads since most of the downward force is being generated there.

Plyometrics!

are the way to go. Just google it and you can find some easy ones to start with. I used to do these back when I was heavy into rollerblading cuz we dont have lips onto handrails and u need to be able jump like a nigguh.

while squats and other exercises can be good for overall strength and avoiding knee injury, they do very little to increase your jumping ability, including calf exercises

as far as skiing jumping goes, you're right. but if you were going to play in the NBA, you'd want really strong calves. (=

yah i just wanna be able to jump higher for lollerskating, skiing, and just being able to do more flatland spins and getting better spring and height when I am cliff jumping

its called air alert. its a training program that basketball players do so they can dunk the net. google image it, it'll give u a schedule.

if u do squats correctly for two weeks straight and continue to push yourself I garentee u will increase ur vertical by mutiple inches

google or ask some forum on what the things are. trust me after a full session of air alert you'll gain a lot of air, and ur legs are gonna be crazy

yeah i got this program called air alert! awhile back and it had some sick drills to jump higher alot of having a chair and jumping up onto it and off also doing step ups where you just step onto the chair and shit look into the program though

contary to what a lot of people think...calf raises and calf exercises in general are not the way to go.

It's a combination of core exercises and large muscle lifts like squats that really help. Squats, deadlifts, lunges, as well as other agility exercises are ideal. It's all about explosiveness. Power cleans are REALLY good, but don't even think about doing them if you don't have proper form or it's just going to hurt you. Basically a combination of the lifts/exercises above is what you want. I could give you a workout I have but you could probably find something just like it online. Do some research and remember that not everything will work for everybody so try and find one that is good for you.
