the easyest thing to do is keep a wide stance starting on the first part of the rail till the end of it and if you get hurt don't cry about it even the pros wreck oh and you can learn on any rails I learn on a bike rack in front of my house stay at it and you can do anything

don't worry about style when you're first learning. these kids get too caught up in their appearance.. they want to look GOOD for everybody else. it's garbage. learn to get comfortable on rails, and the style will come. just try as best you can to lean your weight forward and keep the skis flat on the rail and not up on edge too much.

stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

keep it real.

also, don't really worry about how to keep your weight forward on kink rails, once you're ready to try them, the weight will come naturally

put your weight on your leading foot and most importantly look at the end of the rail. really focus in it and think about nothing else. most of the difficulty of sliding a rail is mental. most people are afraid to commit so thats why they fall

Where did you get your clothes, the toilet store?

to learn the weight shift on flat down try boxes first. its easier to balance but u still gotta be able to shift forward a bit.

in all seriousness.. how can you go that high on a tree without pooping

once you have flats down. try a flat down rail. As u come to the kink transfer all your weight onto your front foot so u dont slip out on the down part.

try to learn on a longer rail, don't go for the really short ones becasue it is easier to get your balance on a longish rail. You can always just come off it if you don't think you can finish

Skiing rocks my world.

Just get comfortable doing rails and well the style will come as you get more comfortable with rails.

All I remeber is when I come up to the rail, just pop and turn. You will be on and off the rail so fast nothing else will matter, until you build your way up rails, Pop and turn, the landing will come naturally...

dont think abuot steez before you have like a 12 foot rail down... dont rotate your self once your on the rail and dont look at your feet or do anyhitng stupid like that

So long fried rice, hello fried chicken!

acutaly, i change my responce to what my good friend once said. "head up to the rail get ready to pop(make sure you are lined up perfect). When at the lip, jump as hard as u can, do a spread eagle, hold it, and get ready for a wonderful surprize."

i think that by having gorila steeze you will actually have yourself in the righ tposition cause youll have wide stance your weight will be low onto the rail and ifyoure getting low with steeze than your weight will atleast probably be centered so yeah try the steeze and itll help

dont listin to this dude he seriously has no idea what hes talkin about, let me change my response again.

first of all, make sure you are commiting to the rail, dont puss out and get like at like 45 then jump off, u have to commit. The as soon as u have the commitment, get your shoulders facing down hill, this may not look "steezy" but its the best way to learn, then as soon as you are on the rail consentrate on the end, dont take ur eyes off of it, then come of at the end, then ull learn to pop off the rail and spin off or choose wheather u wanna go forward or switch off, then ull learn to switch up after that, everything u do in the beginning will help you in the end.

i agree that you should worry about it when u try something new, but still

ok so i used to ski then i snowboarded and at the end of last season i started to ski again and that s all i do. i slid like 1 rail last season and then i did shit on my friends summer rail set up and in like a few days i could frontside 270 out so it is not that hard trust me i have no balence and am un coordinated and i sucked at rails snowboarding too. but really just give a small pop off your toes and keep looking at the end of the rail. remember to fully commit and turn a full ninty deegrees caus if you dont you will nut yourself. so if you commit and keep your wait as far forward as possible and look at the end of the rail you can do it fine and i t is not hard

you dont have to bend over liek a douchbag and do goril steeze to slide rails just come up to the rail with some dednt speed when your learning if your goin a litle quicker on flat raisl they will be ezer. just come up confident do a very slight pop depeneding on the height difernce between the jump and the rail but is usual a small pop and turn your skis to 90 and look at the end of the rail. and flat downs arnt hard at all prity much its jsut a slight weight shift not to hard.

what happined to drugs, sex, & rock and roll...now adays we have aids crack and techno.......

go to the mini park at your mountain or whatever. and start on the rails that are long and stuff...just lower to ground. so its easier if u hafta step off of them and stuff. and it doesnt hurt as mch when you do fall.

def keep your legs apart. and turn all the way. ( 90 degrees) cuz if u only turn like 50 or 60 or even 70 degrees.......u wont be grinding it and ull fall. and that would suck.

make sure you keep your weight forward. that was the part that kept messing me up at first. i thought my weight was perfect, but it was really too far back and my feet kept sliding out from under me. it's almost impossible to have your weight too far forward.

what i did was first learn on boxes, and just go straight on it then once on then turn 90 just to get the feeling, then i started jumping and turning on to the box, then i tried rails

You know you have the coolest cab driver when he says, 'And we're off like a prom dress.'

yeah i agree 100%, but when it's completely new to you, ya gotta get the technique before the style. if you develop bad habits, and worry only about your appearance, what happens when you try a backflip for the first time, only worrying about getting the grab in and then land on your friggin head. gotta get the rotation around first, learn HOW to land a backflip, then make it look steezy once you're comfortable wtih em

keep it real.

here's a simple tip...COMMIT. seriously, don't think about it too much, just go for it. you'll probably crash a few times, but it's all a part of the game.

YOU DUMB ASS FUCKING FAGGIT!!!!!

JUMP ON THAT SHIT AND SLIDE IT YOU BITCH!!!!

ITS A FLAT TO FUCKING DOWN!!!!!

I know that Northstar has a good beginner's park.. to answer your question about where the best place is to learn to slide rails

definetly go to northstar and on flat downs, you dont have to do anything the transition happens naturally, also learn boxes first if you havent yet. uhm also keep your stance pretty wide and dont lean back or forward....spin on naturally so that you land on your natural side for grinding

yea i just started skiing last year and am getting into park now and the first time i tried a rail this year, it was under a lift and i had my weight too far back and got beat on by everyone on the chair, sucked, but now ive gotten pretty comfortable with them

just crash really really hard, and then try again. that way you'll know the consequences of fucking it up, and you will be confident

saying "grind" is kind of gaper, i think the term now is slide, but maybe you are a gaper, since you cant do a rail yet, o well

just pop on 90 degrees, keep ur weight balanced, shoulders forward, look at the end of the rail, just commit
