How to get video onto compt.

Alright, so i have had this cheap video camera bought of off ebay for a while and have still not been able to put footage onto my computer for editing. how does one do this?

what kind of tapes does the camera use... hoping that it is minidv because it is as simple as plugging it in via firewire and captureing... but you need a firewire card in your comp... BUT again i ask, what kind of camera?

if your computer has it you can use A/V cables for transfer. or theres a usb plug for minidv and hi8

i dont know of any mini dv(most dont possibly a few) or hi 8 cameras that have usb... DIGITAL 8 has usb and firewire but other than that you will need an analog or firewire card

use the usb cable, go to editing program (eg. windows movie maker) click "import video from device" etc.
