I need help figuring out how to get compensation for this. I didnt win even though I should have. They just took my photos and pasted them all over there website all while cropping out photo credits and never notifying me. Anyone have advice on how to get paid for this or at least get a seasons pass.

Heres the disclaimer. Notice how it says "....and to use photographers name." Help would be appreciated Thanks

When you submit your photo, you (photographer) hereby authorize Mt.

Hood Skibowl to record his/her photo, to edit these photos at its

discretion, and incorporate these photos, and use and license others to

use such photos in any manner of media whatsoever, including

unrestricted use for purposes of publicity, advertising and sales

promotion and to use photographers name, likeliness or photo in

connection therewith. Contest will be judged by Skibowl staff and

winner will be chosen at their absolute discretion at the end of the

2008-2009 ski season.

That kinda sucks dude but its pretty obvious that you waived your rights... I'm not really sure what argument you think you have, ,because as I see it you have none. It sucks not to get paid but when entering a contest like that its a pretty fair guess that there is gonna be something like that in there so they can get some sweet pictures for free, thats why they do these contests....

yeah your right. I guess i'm just butthurt about getting the credits taken off. I honestly thought I was going to win so I didnt care about the rights at the time

well since they did use your photos on their site, it should give you some hope as a photog. how many other peoples' photos did they use? if its not many, then maybe you have grounds to suggest that you could continue to submit photos to them, become a contributing photographer to ski bowl, and work your way up from there?

thats why you don't enter contests like that.

my guess is that your photos are the ones of that one skier with mt. Hood in the background. 1 of those is damn nice photo buy the way.

for unrestricted use you should have been paid a shit ton. For the ability to then sell your photo to others (which it sounds like they now have) you should have gotten alot more. Non of the prizes were really worth close to how much you would normally have gotten, so it just does not make sense to enter a contest like that.

Best to just take your photos to them and ask them if they would like to use them, and then talk about prices.

thanks for the advice. I've never dealt with ski areas or anything. but now I know. theyre going to call me back about the photos. Thanks though

Don't listen to anyone on this site about anything photo business related. Your best bet would be Wheelsandwax.com, and read the forums, and articles. There are SPECIFIC articles pertaining to what you"re talking about.
