The more you think about it, the more youre gonna psych yourself out so its simply just a matter of commitment and doing the said trick. You dont wanna like think about the trick too much but you also want to focus in on what youre doing

For me it makes all the difference to learn on a tramp. Its hard to try and get out of your head when you don't really know how to do the trick, but when you have the muscle memory, its easier to stop thinking and just do it. So get on a trampoline

Evidently fear is not a factor for you

Focus man. Visualize your trick. How are you gonna set it? where are you gonna look on the pop? What is it going to look like in the air as first person? How are you going to know when you should spot your landing?

Once you can feel the trick; the in run isnt so scary anymore. Never back out; once you drop in, you are going for the trick no matter what. You will be 100% sure you want it.

honestly I've had this problem on rode 5s also and what I've figured is that you just have to feel out the jump, fall on it on a smaller trick and once you start throwing rodeos, you're gonna close your eyes, but if you keep trying, you'll have the ability to feel out the trick better and feel what goes wrong

Also, have a buddy film you so you can see what you're doing wrong from that perspective

good luck

the thing I have always come back to is "if i don't do it now, I probably won't do it 5 minutes from now.". I'd say that for most rational human beings, if you are seriously considering a trick and you are there waiting to drop in and try it, you are probably ready to land it. All it is is that step you have to take into the unknown. I find that the thing that makes me drop in to something scary is not me getting pumped up, but actually calming down, dropping in, and being fine with the fact that you aren't completely in control of the situation, and something bad could happen.

Maybe try get some rhythm, warm up some 5s, backies, flat 3s. You might start feeling it more and want to go for it.

these threads come up all the time and they're kinda ridiculous. not trying to be rude, but there is no secret technique to getting over fear. do you think you have a strong and realistic chance of landing it? if yes then just do it. its like when people ask "how do you get out of bed so early?'' there is no trick to it, you just get the fuck out of bed. same thing with committing to a new trick, stop trying to psych yourself up or practice zen meditation before dropping in or any of that shit, you are always going to be scared, you just have to do it anyway.

Honestly not trying to be. Call it tough love, but there is no way to remove fear from the equation. Good luck on rodeo 5 OP, its a super rewarding trick the first time you ride away.

Very original thread OP! I think we've finally stumbled upon a question no one has ever posted on newschoolers!!!

I help myself by hyping it up and talking

honestly ill just strive up a convo with a random sudbury guy on the ski lift, and then say "hey want to do a train" or "gimme tips on this trick"

to force yourself into commiting, listen to music, hit a few features before with tricks you have locked in
