How to end Police Brutality in America?

How to end Police Brutality in America? It should start by people following what all these people did when their saw cops crossing the line. Cross the line with them, teach them it isnt right and give them a taste of what they dish out.

The sheer power an officer of the law holds over your average civilian makes it near impossible to stop brutality on the spot. That coupled with the loose parameters required to become a LEO and the lax punishments for brutality paint a rather bleak picture

philly-fail-o.gif

Mob mentality could have easily killed those cops, not a proper way way to end brutality at all. I know that alot of cops are starting to wear POV cameras, reviewing footage where alleged cop brutality takes place and actually having them held responsible is one way I could see us solving it

Except that even in clear cases of brutality they're just given desk duty or paid time off for like a week in most cases and never held responsible criminally.

That music was also horrid.

When those cops started beating an already controlled man, they deserved to be ripped limb form limb like the bitches they are.

An easier way is to make them wear cameras at all times while on duty. Some places in CA have tried it and it works really well. Cops are better behaved, people are more civil to them, and overall there are a lot less incidents from both ends.

Hopefully it will spread. It seems like such an easy step to improve police behavior, ensure that cops themselves aren't falsely accused, and ultimately restoring a bit of necessary trust to the relationship between cops and groups that they've historically had bad relationships with.

honestly i laughed so hard at those faggy ass pigs. just a bunch a power hungry fuckheads who had nothing better to do with there life besides ruin others

Keep smoking weed and posting on the internet. That'll show them. Also nice thread OP. Nobody has ever seen that video posted before.

im just thinking out loud here.

but i feel like that guy wouldnt have been in a situation where police could "brutally" attack him if he were not illegally running around on a soccer field?

How dare you make a rational post in this thread!!!

To OP, Darwin would love this. The chicks, who don't listen to mom and jump into alligator infested water, tend to get eaten. In other words, if you do stupid shit; stupid shit will happen to you.

This.

If you don't do stupid illegal shit, and comply with officers you won't get he shit beat out of you.

Well that's just ridiculous. This is a free country. If I want to break a law or potentially violate someone else's freedom/safety, I should have that right because I want to have fun.

However if the officer is honorable and intelligent, he would note that a 5 on 1 situation wouldn't necessitate much violence at all unless it's against Andre the Giant.

Cops aren't held to a high standard by society, so it's their responsibility to establish that for themselves. One person getting filmed doing something idiotic every month is going to continue to strengthen their poor reputation.

Guys, that dood obviously had a bomb on that sign

But really , was it necessary for that cop to gut shot the guy repeatedly? I mean wasn't it obvious he was just being a stupid fan?

Im glad the crowd got involved and started kicking those cops asses. Sometimes I wish this would happen more often. Mostly because of this situation, not because I have a hatred for all cops (thats just immature)

Another case of police getting far to involved and , in my eye, giving motivation to those who run on the field. Mostly because half the fun seems to be trying to outrun them.

Whens the last time a suicide bomber ran on a field and blew people up during a sports game in the US?

I cant exactly vouch for places like Brazil, but thats not even terrorism. Thats just mental handicapped-ness between the officials, players, and audience and their sense of reality.

And most videos you see are completely lacking context. The filmed usually conveniently leaves out what happens before the cops hit someone.

In this case how do you know he wasn't biting, punching, or refusing to cooperate with the officers?

This.

Story time:

I had just moved into a new neighborhood that was what real estate people would call transitional. I went down to the local 7 11. As I was walking up, I notice two cops throwing a guy into the back of a van. He was handcuffed, and his pants were pulled down to his ankles. The guy was really scrawny, and the cops picked him up from either side like they were loading a piece of furniture, and set him down on his chest in the van.

Filing that in the WTF file, I walked up to the door of the 7 11 which was ripped off of its hinges. I walked in and it looked like a bomb had gone off in the store. One of the display racks had been ripped out of the floor.

I picked up my item and walked up to the counter. I kind of wanted to get the story from the clerk and opted for rye humor to get him talking. "I'm not sure whether you noticed, but there is a butt naked guy being thrown into a van out front, and your door seems to be missing". He told me this 100 pound homeless guy, messed up on something, had thrown a fit and caused all the destruction. He ripped the front door off the 7 11 with his bare hands. When the cops showed up, they got him hand cuffed, but he continued to try to kick them. They pulled his pants down to his ankles so he couldn't kick them, and apparently he did not own underwear.

Anybody watching a video of it would have just thought that 2 big cops were brutalizing and possibly sexually assaulting this little homeless guy. The reality was that they were just doing what they had to to keep him from tearing someone's arms off.

People always severely overestimate how easy it is to restrain someone who really doesn't want to go. Its not something you can really simulate or practice that easily.

haha. friggen mr.huck the republican with another stupid comment. supporting police brutality. really?

fuck the cops, burn the prisons!

they only believe in civil liberties for the rich!

People on the right would love to watch the poor end up in prison just for not trying hard enough and not being able to buy lawyers and cases.

it's funny how many people in this thread probably think the prisons are filled with criminals

i dont think more violence is going to solve anything but i think more in depth interview/background investigations may help

in my experience, the people that graduate high school and go straight into law enforcement are more apt to be assholes. for the most part cops are people too and the ones that have had some time to live a little before getting into the profession are more likely to forgive the petty stuff because they've been there before

that being said, they have a job to do and every now and then a little bit of ass needs to be kicked

None of that described or supported police brutality you ignorant ass. Do you have even a basic education?

i have seen cops take action when needed, I have also seen cops go on full on power trips and it pissed the fuck out of me.

Example of cops crossing the line.

Out one night with some friends we went to a bar and were in line waiting to get in, one of my friends told a joke and another friend laughed at it, apparently that was the wrong move to make while in line for a bar. A cop comes over and tells my friend "Son come with me" mind you the cop was easily 23 years old and we were 21. We all asked why and his hands went right for his belt grabbing all his batman gear. He didnt give a reason he just spoke in a louder voice "Son come with me" my friends looks at him with a confused face and all he said is why? I guess that pissed the cop off because he grabbed him by the arm and dragged him over the ropes of the line for the bar. My friends only asked what are you doing and the cop yelled back "if you say one more word" . The rest of us are standing there looking at each other asking what should we do, so me and another friend follow them. We kept back a little bit because there was something off about this cop. We followed them to an ally were the cop parked his car and there was another cop in the car. The cop in the car stepped out and grabbed my friend by the other arm and both of them slammed him on the hood of the car. At this point we yelled what are you doing, next thing i knew the cop from the car took his gun out and pointed it at us to step away and let them do their job. We backed off but went around to the other side and kept a low profile. We heard the cops asking my friend where did you get the drugs, you were laughing like you were high, and he replays with I'm not high I'm not even drunk we are going out for a few drinks. The cops kept yelling and screaming at him for what kind of drug he was on and he kept saying he wasn't. That went on for a good ten minutes, then it got quiet and we couldnt hear anything. So we take a look to see what is going on and one of the cops sees us and screams please leave this is a police matter. We yell back you have no reason to be holding him at all. Wrong thing to do one of the cops runs at us and the other one tosses my friend in the back seat of the car and followed behind the other cop. We get a little scared because you know what cops carry weapons, so we ran off. We went back to the bar to meet up with our friends that went in and told them what happened. They are all pissed off and call the cops on the cops which got us no where besides more cops driving by the bar we were in. We waited it out in the bar for a good hour, then we get a text from out friend who the cops took, it read "I'm going to fucking sue those pigs". We meet back up with him and found out that all the cops were doing was shaking him down for any cash he had on him. They told him they knew he was on drugs because he said so (which he was not on at all) and he was going to go to jail because it was his word vs their word unless he paid a 150 dollar fine right then. He said no and they punched him a few times saying they knew he had cash on him because they saw us at the atm taking money out for the bar and they wanted it and if he knew what was best for him it was to give them the cash he had. He said they also got really pissed off when they took his wallet his money wasnt in it and he told them he didnt take any money out. They called him a fucking drug addict and demanded any money he had on him. He had a 20 on him and he gave it to them to try to get out of this whole thing and they finally took it and told him to get lost.

The next day we all went down to the police station to file a report against those two cops and needless to say we were pretty much tossed out of there with out even getting to talk to anyone about it. We walked in dressed nicely and acted politely and we were treated like trash and pretty much told to get the fuck out or else.

This is getting a little to long but you get the idea, i have seen other things like this and I for one cant stand it any more. I feel like if me and my friends all 7 of us gained up on that one cop like everyone in that video it wouldnt have happened and that piece of shit cop would have learned a lesson that it isnt right to use his cop uniform as a right to be a crimal.

See that's a legit story, not at all related to the convo Huck was having. What you're describing is certainly wrong and much more extreme.

I remember when these threads came up in like 2006 there would only be a few people acting as the voice of reason. Every other person would be screaming fuck the police and jerking it into some anti flag album art. Nice to see the crowd is maturing a bit.

Yes there are stories of cops taking advantage of people. But the internet sensationalizes it like it's a fucking phenomenon and we're in a police state. Cops are authoritative. You know why? Because they are the fucking authority. If they come off passive people are going to walk all over them. They need to walk into the room like they own the place that's their fucking job.

That video was just a bunch of europeans looking for another reason to jump on a field. There was 5 or 6 cops blocking the view of that guy, you have no idea if they were struggling to keep him down or if he had a falcon grip on one of those cops nuts. I would assume that no cop with half a brain would beat the shit out of a guy for no reason in front of a stadium of witnesses.

Some cops are dicks, some cops abuse their power. I agree, there should be more accountability. But do you really think that beating up cops is the right answer? Go give yourself a jack and choke with a studded belt.

Maybe I'm just a skeptic, but I have a hard time believing things went down like you said they did. There is pretty much always more to the story than people tell, especially when trying to make a point.

I'm a social worker who has hears roughly 100 bs stories from clients about what wonderful, innocent people they are. Example of what I have to deal with:

Mom - "You had no rights to take my kids from me!"

Me - "Ma'am, you were passed out with a needle in your arm and your 5 year old is making supper for your 1 year old when we came to your house and apprehended them."

I also work with cops on a regular basis as part of the job, so perhaps there is some bias. Yes, there are some bad cops here and there, but the vast majority are decent, hard working people who genuinely care about the safety and well being of their community.

If things went down like you explained, that's brutal and there is no excuse for it.

The majority of cops I have met throughout college where it was usually a negative experience for me were pretty chill, some were power hungry dicks that became that way only because I was a dumb ass drunk and provoked them.

The cops I have met since either by getting pulled over for random stuff, or the cops I know due my profession were there is a lot of community engagement, are super legit dudes. Yes there are fucked up ones, but you only hear about the hear about the times they fuck up. Think of all the positive shit we never hear about.

Just try to look at both sides.

there are always cops speedtrapping on the corner on my morning commute. they stand on the sidewalk and the first time I think they expected me to walk around them, as if their work was more important than my commute to school, but I just walked right into the one. now I just basically barge through their little group and they expect it and get the fuck out of my way.

you gotta be that way with cops. let them know they are less important than you.

im sorry but that is the biggest bunch of bullshit i have ever heard.

what 23 year old cop is going to risk his remaining careers salary over $150?

and the other cop pulled his gun and pointed it at you guys??

ya?

no

My friend was beaten to a pulp by a police officer in my home town last year. He tried to resist, striking the officer twice before TJ was knocked out by a blow to the back of the head. After the fact, the officer was given paid leave for his "injuries" and actually filed a lawsuit against my friend. He claimed that my friend hit him so hard in the nuts that he was unable to "satisfy" his wife for an extended amount of time and he was trying to recover damages. This is not a fake story, my friend is still being sued. I hate what this country has become.

So, he was resisting arrest, punched an officer multiple times, and then was knocked out cold by a single shot to the back of the head, yet he was..."beaten to a pulp?" That's not police brutality, bud, that's your friend being a fucking retard and getting what he had coming.
