I started riding park with poles because i prefer it on rails but how do you do grabs with poles in your hand? Like do I keep my thumb wrapped around and slam the skis on my thumb or do I just let go of the pole and pray? Idek how to approach it

I’ll take a photo of how I hold my pole if necessary ?

I keep my thumb on top and bend the pole back in line with my arm or away from my body holding pole with thumb and grab with rest

I also moderately hurt myself falling on a pole to an instant stop this way so ya know have fun with that

I kinda palm the pole and use the tips of my fingers to grab. This however gives me an iron grip that hurts my thumb whenever I fall

Its pretty much the same as if you were grabbing without poles in your hands; Set for the jump, Pop, bring your knees up and grab. For me, i try to keep my thumb at least wrapped around my pole and then use my 4 other fingers available to grab the ski from the bottom of the base. Try to keep your head up otherwise youre gonna go head over heels on your landing.

My problem with that is that when I go to do the grab I absolutely smash my thumb with my ski but ig just gotta deal with it

I found the easiest way to do grabs with poles was to throw them in the goodwill donation bin before I got to the hill... never struggled with this issue again

Apply these methods through your mittens and find your fit/adaptation. This is also for anyone else.

1. Two Finger (my most common)

2. Sock Puppet Grab

3. Pinch

4. Magic

As previously stated must have the grab tab, just don’t hook it on the bottom of the ski. I did that didn’t end well

You don’t need the grab tab. On grab types 1-3 I choked up on the handle to show this. The tab are nice though!

What are people on about. Its exactly the same as grabbing without poles. You open your fingers and when you feel the ski in your hand you close your fingers.

Thats literally the strongest instinct you have seconds after being born. How can you do so little in your life that you lose your most primal instinct?

My first primal instinct was to try and fuck the nurse

Throw your pole ahead of you right before takeoff then do your grab and since your pole has less momentum you'll catch up to it when you're done the trick and catch it again. Works every time.

No poles = easy grab

poles = obstacle

it’s not the question “how do you grab” it’s the question “how do you grab your skis while your hand is occupied”

you sound, stupid

also for the people saying you can’t have mittens and poles, ??? ??? ????? or anything type of pole with a small grip, I can grab my ski normally with my 4 fingers on the base and thumb on the top sheet the grip sits on the edge/sidewall area. Its not very hard people

What is a kid pole for? Like it’s too short right? So y bring em at all ?

Could think of something better to bring with me if I wasn’t holding poles , shot and a beer perhaps, ice axe , sex dolls idk

May get line poles with da grab tab since I am tall and need taller poles. Plus the skinny grip will definitely be a plus.

Does the grab tab like buffer between the ski and the hand or sumn idrk what it does but the poles look sick ?

this makes me think, how do y’all without poles make it through lift lines? I don’t see how you could move without them
