alright so i got a 48" x 48" x 3/16" HDPE sheet and i cut it into strips to make my box. the topsheet is being mounted on a 1" thick board of wood with liquid nails

how do i connect them so that you cant catch an edge sliding it either way? would it be possible to melt the plastic in order to fuse them together?

just set them level so that they sit flush. there can be like a 1/4" gap between them, and if they're properly flush then th most you'll notice (going either way) will be a small 'click'. Something to help reduce the chance of you catching on the gap would be to round off the end of each sheet just slightly - so that the top looks somewhat like this:

_____     _____

except not as exxagerated and much rounder - you can use coarse sandpaper if you want.

if you don't understand just pm me i'll send u detailed pics.

put the second rail a little lower tha hte firrst so you dont clip your ski and fall. make it like a half inch lower, and i think youll be fine

He wants to be able to go both ways. I'd recomend rounding the edges and setting them flush. Thats pretty much all you can do.

you don't even have to curve the edges. just set the two pieces as flush as possible, screw them down or whatever. Then sand the part where they meet after they're already stuck down, so it will be as smooth as possible
