How to build your own backyard rail?

Anyone have any tips on building your own rail?

Like what materials, and how to build it and shit
 
i just asked for a flat bar for x mas a couple years back and my dad got some guy to build the sickest flat bar in the world
 
chop a tree down with your bare hands like chuck norris, take off all the branches with your dick, remove the bark with your eyelids, and cover the whole thing in one load of semen to help you slide. or try the search bar as previously mentioned by my astute fellows up there on this here thread.
 
join build a jib 101, man we need someone to make a good thread about jibs and rails and then sticky it so there would be no more questions
 
you should make the frame of a rail out of 2x4 or 2x6 then mount either lexan hdpe or pvc on the top.
 
what type of rails? You can do it cheap and effectively, wood frame with 2x4 and 2x6 and run angle iron down the top of the 2x6 to simulate riding a 6 inch box steel flat bar, or make a box and flush mount plexi between the angle iron, or learn how to weld and use all round stock, or go all out and get some 6 inch box steal and some 2x2 box steal and weld up mad boxes and rails, your choice

PVC rails with wood are a good beginner project and user friendly as well...
 
most of it is roughcut wood, save up your pennies, lil paint, some hammers, some nails, screws, and a brain that is good at building and engineering stuff and a whole lot of ambition
 
hey how thick of lexan should i use i have 1/8 1/4 someone said screw them together but if its just me and some friends hitting it up do i really need it that thick.
 
ahh dont use pvc, it sucks, it sticks, its soft enough for your edges to cut in to it etc. if you acutaly want to build rails, take a welding class or have someone you know who can weld to teach you, it really easy and you can learn how to do it well fast. and if you serious about maken rails buy an Arch welder, you dont need anything more then 100ampers and you can buy a ok one for about 200-400 at a hardware store. its a lotta money but you will find that welding is a really handy skill/tool and you can build some Sick rails.
 
ohh and talk to your city offices or look around on line, alot of county/city contruction porjects or demolitions have alot of material they give you if you are willing to haul it a way. most of it is crap but you can find some cool stuff
