How to break my switch habit?

When I first learned how to ride switch I found it easier to carve while looking over the "wrong" shoulder. I figured that once I got the hang of carving down I'd start looking over the other shoulder. The only problem is that now every time I look over the "right" shoulder to carve I feel way off balance and revert back to looking over the opposite shoulders. I can carve switch down all the blues and most of the blacks at my hill no problem, but when it's more crowded I feel like have somewhat of a blind spot and get nervous.

Is the only solution to this to just suck it up and start doing it the right way? I have no problem with staggering my feet, keeping a wide stance, etc, I just can't look over the freaking correct shoulder without feeling like I'm going to bail.

Just take some time when the hill isn't too busy and the snow is nicely groomed on a blue run (in the morning maybe) and just be patient in your transition from one side to the other, maybe practice switch straight running in the flats, looking over one shoulder then the other. Just remember when the tail of your right ski is in front, look over your right shoulder and when the tail of the left ski is in front, you are looking over your left shoulder.

have you seen my switch vid on youtube?
if not, when your trying make sure you use the whole run to help build muscle memory. What i mean is carve from one side of the run to the other an open your shoulders to the down hill. Most people have a hard time on there bad shoulder because they never fully commit to FINISHING the turn and not get wright on the up hill edge have a look down the list I think that vid is on here some where.

I have a problem with carving to one side on my fat skis on anything but groomers, I can crank open bodied turns the other direction fakie, my pow skis are not as center (like +5) as my park skis.
1) Any tips on getting myself more open turning the other way?
2) Can the difference between true center and +5 really throw me off that much?
Much thanks

bigger turns will help giving you more time to set up, will help a little. Due to your large tips your turns are tokyo drifter, and less carved. moving them up will help sum. as well opening your shoulder more will help you get off your base and on your edge. does this help,CCCR

Gotcha. tried it today and it did work better. I think moving my mount up will help. Getting on both edges feels tricky but good.
