I can backflip 360 standing on tramp, i can cork 900 on tramp, backflip on ground. I am so afraid to throw a backflip on skis though, i through lazyboy cork fives, but im afraid to flip, being in the midwest theres no air bags to practice on, and we dont get much powder, i threw front flips last year, someone have any advice?

I would say do it on a good park jump with spring like conditions if you get a warm ish day.

Smaller hips are probably the easiest to learn on but you might not have one. I you do, decking out gives you plenty of height and a soft landing without traveling forward. It eliminates a lot of the fear of flying forward doing a gainer style flip.

If you can do it on the tramp you can 100% do it on skis. It's the commitment that's the biggest part and just going for it. Honestly you'll likely land, or come very close to landing your first one.

Just make sure you're getting 3.5 or so of height at least to make sure you'll get it around. Don't worry about landing on your head because unless you totally pussy out, it's almost not possible. Make sure to look straight back over your head, arch your back and drive your hips forward coming off. If you want you can bring your knees up into your hands and tuck it for the first try.

Honestly as soon as you do it, even if you'll fall over, You'll be like "Holy fuck this was so easy why hadn't I tried it sooner"

Once you stomp it, keep throwing them all day, I mean you're probably going to want to anyway. Have fun throwing a million backflips a day, being stoked as fuck, and impressing everyone on the lift.

Good luck and viva la backflip

Make a jump that is stupid kicky, it launches you right into the flip. If you can do all that other shit your air awareness will keep u safe.

Honestly this, if you remember just to pop, thrust your hips forward and bring your legs up, you’ve already done most of it

I just did a backflip on skis for the first time yesterday and my biggest fear was that my skis would ad extra weight and fuck me up but it really didn't. Just throw it and you'll make it.

Make it stupid kicky means different things to people but on a handbuilt, usually bad things. Too much kick without transitin can fuck up tour wntry into the flip or make you stall out. Like theside jumps off the trail that have a massive wall at the end. That las minute compression isn't good imo

Go out and build yourself a poppy little booter. It doesn't have to be super big just poppy enough to help you set your flip. I stay low when I do them (not laying them out) and also throw my arms to get the momentum. Also keep looking back for your landing, if you don't do that you won't commit. Backflips aren't as nearly as hard as your mind tells you, it's all about imagining yourself landing it then taking it to the sky. Hope this helps!

Speed man!If possible try and drop from higher or something so you don't have to skate all the way to the takeoff. Another foot of height and you'd have stomped that easy.

Otherwise you could spin way faster but that's kind of sketchy as you'll be just clearing your tips, could still catch, and it will be hard to land without falling back or getting backseat.

If you can do it on a tramp, you can definitely do it on skis. Find a good jump and give it a go. Now, go get it!
