How tall should a drop in be?

Me and my buds are about to build a drop-in ramp, but we don't know what height to make it? Does 5 feet sound good? We don't want something super tall because then it is hard to move around. Anyone with some experience to help us out? Also what about the angle of the ramp itself?

you talking about a drop-in ramp for urban ? that should be transportable ?

or a drop-in for backyard shredding ?

for summer backyard it depends on the length and hight of the rail your hitting.

my drop in is 7 feet high and i have a 17 footlong 18 inch high pvc rail. its all astroturf, and its plenty fast with just water.

i would stick to 6 feet if your rail is a bit shorter or not as long, and you could always get more speed using soap and or construction fence

Mine is a four or five footer but you can't carry much speed for much more than a mellow rail, but I'm making a new one and it's probably going to be around 7 feet.

YOU COULD LOOK INTO GETTING A BUNGEE. YOU CAN SET UP BUNGEES IN PLACES THAT YOU COULDNT PUT A DROP IN, BUT IT ALSO WORKS THE OTHER WAY AROUND.

ALSO KEEP IN MIND THAT YOU SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST 2 PEOPLE WITHOUT SKIS ON PULLING IT BACK, THEY'RE CRAZY HARD TO PULL BACK AND YOU NEVER GET AS MUCH SPEED AS YOU THINK YOU WILL

this was the one i used. it kinda ran into a natural hill in my backyard so it was real mellow

If I were you I'd cut the down ramp where the support post is at least, doesn't seem like you could carry the speed you'd expect for all that effort.

If you have a hill to work with, it makes things a lot easier and you won't have to make the drop in as high. If your on flat then definitely 6-7 feet MINIMUM like people are saying.
