wean myself into running

i used to be able to run like 2 miles without stoping at a pretty good pace but now i cant run 200 yards without dieing.

so yeah i want to get ready for the ski season

how much sould i run each day to wean myself into it.

dude smoking pot makes it seem like you are running slow so you push urself harder. when you are drunk you dont run in a strait line and you cover more distance. use ur brain man

I just had to do this to get used to the elevation change from sea level to 6500 G's. I started on the treadmill then got on an indoor soccer team and the first time i played my lungs filled up with fluid but when i play now its not a big deal, ive been lifting weights 5 days a week working both upper and lower body, i cant wait tell my sea level friends come up to ski and i ditch them hard.

If you want to wean into it it's really quite simple, I used to race xc biking and dh all that good stuff. Running was one of the main parts of my training regime. Do intervals. If your trying to get back into start on a track somewhere, run 15 seconds hard 45 seconds jog, then 20 seconds hard 45 seconds jog, 25 seconds hard 45 seconds off, until you reach 45 seoncds hard. That's about 8 minutes and 10 seconds of consistant running. This not only will help improve your bodies ability to remove lactic acid but also improve overall muscular endurance(which is obvoiusly caused by the build up lactic acid). If you run like this it will beat the shit out of you. But the rewards are much greater than just going for a long jog. Don't pay any attention to trying to maintain your heart rate at the optimal rate. If you do this I guarantee you that by the end of a month ( based on running Mon. Wed. Fri.)you will be able to increase your intervals all the way up to 2:00 full sprint. As someone said before, dont forget to lift as well. Another option you might want to try is the stair master. People call it girly, but u burn more calories on that then you do running. It's also less impact on the joints in your knee and still presents good cardio, there is also usually an interval option on it. That is what I do now for 45 minutes everyday after each workout at the gym.

yeah you'll do your first run and then you might give yourself a day or two to recover, assuming you're out of shape as you said. You'll be pretty sore. after that you'll get back into it pretty fast and can build up to longer runs. after a couple weeks you'll start to enjoy it, at least i do.

Dont be a pussy and run your ass off. You would be surprised how far you can push your body. After an entire summer of smoking and drinking I got my ass kicked in football every day, but you get in shape quick.

sendek run with me sometime you dont want me to show you up so you should keep up with me ill go slow and i havent run for a long time either

You can do a lot of cardio to be in shape for skiing to a certain extent, but from what I've found, there really is no way to excercise the muscles that are used when you ski when you're off snow. It's a matter of getting on the snow and using them.
