How safe are torrents?

I am thinking about downloading premiere cs3 from a torrent. Is there any risks that I should be aware of and stuff? I just don't want to crash my computer

figured... but is there anyone out there that has had any success downloading any adobe premiere? post a link or something that'd be sick!
 
download to a virus protected folder. like super protected.
umm dont use limewire
check the amount of seeders and leachers and the comments.
and make sure the original guy is legit.
or you can buy a mac. no viruses, mine is a works great.
 
Torrents are just about the most legit way of downloading anything. As long as you go on trusted sites, read comments, download from high amount of seeders, and virus scan, you're good. Hell, I don't even virus scan most of my downloads and I have absolutely no viruses.

just search what you want and type rapidshare or megaupload after it. the only reason i like torrents though is that people can write comments about them to tell you if they are legit or not. other than that, direct downloads all the way.
 
if you download them by just doing your search and snagging the first one that pops up, yeah, they arent that safe.

if you actually look at the original poster and the comments, youll be pretty happy. just make sure youre running some kind of security system on your computer just in case (should be a must if youre downloading anything anywhere really) especially for windows
 
dude just go on btjunkie.org and u will get whatever u want there with no viruses.. especially ones that arent seeded a lot
 
i torrent A LOT and i have to say if you take the necessary precautions they're pretty safe.i find lots of people that complain about messing up the computer because of a torrent it's either something they screwed up themselves or they didn't make sure the torrent was legit. some tips are don't use limewire you can but i won't recommend it try something like bittorrent or utorrent. also look in the comment or rating of the torrent and see if it's legit. check the steps you need to download if your torrents a program like cs3 to make sure it all looks ok, have a good firewall even if your on a mac. and make sure it's around the file size it should be, like a song shouldn't be 5GB or something like that. like i said i torrent a lot so if you have any questions just ask.
 
It can be perfectly safe, but it can also screw you over. you just have to know what to look out for. Its one of those things where i personally think that if you have to ask, you might want to stay away until you no longer have to. Not that there are tons of complicated things with it, just my opinion.
