Is it just me or is a young filmer like 7 years older than a young skier?

I feel like if your 15 or less your young when it comes to skiing, but as a filmer/ski company founder your still young if your like > 25.

There is a LOT to learn in the film industry, so it takes a while for people to get there, they might have the talent young but then the business side is the real hard part. So thats a big factor in it.

This. You could make awesome movies but if you don't know how to market yourself you won't make it very far. With that being said it gives me some hope in the photo/video industry verses skiing haha

Yes, in the photo/video business its a lot of who you know and how persistent and reliable you are. And in all honesty, a lot of the times it doesnt come down to just plain talent. For example I got hired as a full time editor at the company I work for now and going into it I had only shot ski videos, and had only edited on Premiere pro and this was a final cut editing job. Basically my boss hired me because he thought I could learn and he liked my attitude. So in that case he hired someone way under qualified because he thought it would be good in the long run.
Moral, it might take a while to get your foot in the door but once you are in then its easy to find work. Thats why it takes people a long time, and why you see a lot of people that are super talented but cant get a job.

I'm only 18 and I started my company in 2006 and it's the business part that is really difficult and investing your money wisely in equipment. I'm still really small time but I have around 10,000 dollars invested in the company in cameras, tripods, etc and continuing to grow. It's hard but so worth it and theolder I get the easier it gets

^ I was in that same position a couple years ago, I had everything to make it happen but then I had some really bad experiences with my business partners and it all fell apart. Be careful who you trust is the only advice I have to give you.
