The point is ladies and gentlemen that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right. Greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of it's forms - greed for life, for money, knowledge - has marked the upward surge of mankind and greed - you mark my words - will not only save Teldar Paper but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA. Thank you. -> Wallstreet

i dont wax mine that much, but if u notice that ur goin un-usually slow, then its time...also u dont really need to buy new wzx everytime u run out...just reuse the old shit...when u scrape of the wax, keep the flakes in a bag, then next time u wax, just take the flakes spread them on ur skis and iron....

yeah you could do that if you like to use dirty wax... there is no good way to use scraped wax... save that for peoples stuff you wax for them...

^ Enick, where the hell did you learn to reuse your wax? Its like re-using your old stinky bong water, you dont do it. The reason you scrape your skis is to get the best prepared surface to ski on, and also it can pull out a lot of crap from the base. If you look at what comes off some skis that havent been waxed for a while, you will see the wax is discoloured, where on skis that are waxed regularly, the wax is clean. Re-using this dirty wax just pushes all the crap back into your base.

To thos who dont scrape, you dont have to, but it usually slows you down a lot. Thats because you have to rub all that wax off until you get down to the 'fast' layer, which is where you start off at if you scrape.

Hope that makes sense, not sure if it does.

Oh, I worked in a ski shop, I waxed my skis every two days they were used, if not every day. But I wasnt paying for it then, so probably less if I was.

I've been doing it about every 7-10 days of skiing. I think a pretty good way to tell when they need it is if the bases start to get some white spots on em.

also if ur primarily a jibber u'll notice that ur base will dry out a lot quicker if u do rails a lot. i have to wax my skis every 3-4 days depending on snow conditions. i don't scrape but then again i also don't slather on the wax.

mcgoo, if u wanna run out and buynew wax every time u run out, fine, but wen i wax mine, im usually doin mine, my dads, and friends, so i run out really fast, and recycling it works just fine, it hasnt let me down yet, and ive been doin it for a couple of years....biatch

i think enick is right because the wax that you scrape off is the top layer so and it will still do its job without anything sticking to it from your skis and whatever is in it would be microscopic...or just wipe down your skis before u wax them

Mine get waxed and sharpened every time i get back from skiing, especially if I have been in the park.

Keep your bases in Top Condition all the time...it only helps!!!!

Enick, I have to say that when I do run out of wax, yes I go buy more. I consider this an expense of skiing, but if you use the wax sparingly, its not too bad. Plus, I dont huse super expensive wax, so that helps. Just the Toko stuff, whatever is available. Its $15 (aus) for a block, which lasts for a while. And no, Im not rich, I work to support my skiing habit. I just dont like fucking up expensive skis...biatch

when i raced i waxed almost everyday, i dont quite as much anymore mostly because i dont get to ski quite as much. the only way you can hurt your skis by waxing is if you have the iron too hot or leave it in one place for too long and you will bubbe you base, quite a ad thing. Also you dont ever need to use base cleaner the orange or citrus smelling stuff. it will take all the wax off your base. the more wax you put into your base (meaning the more times you wax not the more wax you use each time you wax) the faster your skis will be. edges however do not need to be done as often, cause each time you sharpen you take off a little of the metal. the rule i was always told for edges is when it cant scrape a little off your finger nail then its tim eto sharpen or if you notice a loss of edgehold. i had to sharpen more often than some should because i am from michigan and only really got to ski on ice, which was especially prominent in the ruts around the gates while racing.

as far as stone grinding i would typically get it done before the season begins every year, just to get a nice clean level and nicely patterned base.

I wax mine everyother time I go. Also depends on the conditions and the kind of wax you are using.

mmmmmm snow goood

every weekend

There is no such thing as shitty snow only shitty skiers.

If it was easy they would call it snowboarding.

I wax mine everytime I'm done. To keep the base in the best condition. I wipe my bases off when I'm done for the day so the bases don't soak up the water and dry out faster. I love waxing skis. Oh and buy a nice waxing iron. Swix makes a kickass iron. Pricy but awesome.

I haven't waxed my skis since I first got them... a good 30 days of skiing on them. And that includes a bit of cement and tons of rails on them.

They still work as good as the day I got them.

i dont scrape because i dont use enough wax to warrant scraping. just barely cover the base with the rubbing technique, then iron, then buff out. there is no wax to scrape. if there is, then it comes off first run.
