i still rock my factory wax, since the start of the season

do the chickens have large talons?
what?
large talons.
i didn't understand a word you just said.

when i use to race i knew this dude that would wax his skis every single night, which is stupid and waste of wax. if you ski a lot then waxing every 2 or 3 weeks would be good

shit i forgot about waxing my skis, i need to do it but i completely forgot that skis need to be waxed especially mine since i havent waxed them for almost 2 years ahahha

mattster if you havent waxed in 2 years you probly have some serious base burn. the only thing you can really do is load it with wax and only scrape off a little so its kinda sticky. When you take ur 1st run it'll be kinda slow but by 2nd run it'l be fine. twin tip you CAN have to much wax. If you put too much on and dont scrape enough off your skis will fell like a car driving w/o tires, way to much friction

its not as big of a deal as this guys make it seem, especially the average newschooler who is going to be getting new skis every year or every other year.

wow TMswitch06 your really missed the head on this one. First off, to much wax wont slow you down. Wax is used to reple the water. Your skis create friction with the snow and melts the snow. You can never wax your skis to much. I would say for you people in the park wax them every 10 or so days on the hill, but in reality goign on rails is gonna affect the performance of your skis a lot more then waxing them will. So about once a month would be good. If you want performance, your gonna notice the difference every time you wax them. My race skis i wax before every race. Difference bases hold wax differently, my race skis have a race base on them and they can get edge burn after only 3 runs, so you gotta wax accordingly. But serriously if you havent wax your skis in over a year, thats like not changing your oil in your car for over a year.

did i 'miss the head on this one?' ive done it before. you put to much wax on ur skis and they will be slower than if you put the right amount on it. it all really depends on how much you scrape off after you wax though.

Yeah there are some rich people on this site who don't even need to wax. All they do is ask their mommies for a new pair of skis.

ok dudes I wax mine every 2nd or 3rd time out depending on the conditions. here in the east it is hard on the skis specialy man made snow... you can never wax your skis too much and your base will always be in good shape and have less scraches.

I get mine tuned once in the middle fo the season and they wax em then, and then at the end of the season

I usually wax my skis every other week, which comes out to about once every 6-7 days and that's fine for me. And it is definately possible to wax too much. There is a reason you get scrapers when you get a tuning kit. One is to get rid of old wax and one is to get rid of new wax. Once you starting dripping wax on more wax, it loses it's purpose.

I also use Zardoz Notwax every once-in-a-while. The puck it comes in is really handy and you can just keep it in your pocket.

Go to walmart. pick up the cheapest iron they have. Go to a ski shop pick up some wax. Turn on the iron in a vented area. Hold the irion above you base and drip a line down your ski. DONT drip it all over you really dont need that much. Then put the wax down adn go over it slowly so the wax spreads out all over your ski. Make sure you dont turn you iron to far up, and never leave the iron on your base in the same spot for more than 5 secends or so, if you do you will bouble your base and the skis are toast.

Oh and excess wax (from not scraping after waxing) WILL slow you down alot. You dont have to scrape though, almost all of the excess wax will come off in a couple runs.

the more often you wax your skis, the faster they will go. waxing every day might be a waste of wax, but it is not a complete waste -- it still does have an effect.

^correct the more layers of wax you have built up over the years the healthier the base and the faster you go, ONLY IF:

You completeley scrape and brush every layer completely off. The only wax that remains is deep in the base or in the grooves and uneven parts ect. They also must be cleaned before every waxing or you are just trapping dirt underneath.

Good luck

To the guy riding 'factory wax' that shit is like candle wax to keep the base wet and protected during shipping it has nothing to do with skiing at all.
