How much should you spend on a helmet? Seriously

Being as the whole CR thing is in the limelight i thought it'd be a good idea to ask this question. I wanna know whats the difference between helmets and price? My buddy bought a Scotty Arnold Protec for $40 and I bought a Giro G10 for over $100 and he's givin me shit about how I paid so much more! I say you pay for what u get. I just want to know wot people think about quantifying a helmet?

BTW big respect and regards to CR.

Giro is definately the better deal. I work at a ski shop, and we always try to encourage buying GIRO. mine was priced 110, however i got it for like 75 because of my discount

I got my giro 9 on ebay last year for $50. Just remember, your brain is one of the few things the doctor can't fix... I always wear mine. I mean hell it doesn't even look all that bad. I think it looks kinda cool actually. And they are warm if not warmer than a beanie. Especially if you are in the park, you should have a helmet on. All it takes is a fall on that little 10 ft. rail to crack your skull open.

Get what's comfortable. 50 bucks more isn't that much if going cheap is just going to be bothering you the whole time.

the GIRO helmets are sooooo lightweight and warm, id spend the extra any day especialy when we're talkin about protecting your brain.

i have a black fabric giro bad lieutenant and i love it i paid like 60 bucks shipped. best helmet ive had. i really liked the pattern and the feel of it and it makes me feel a whole lot better about myself and im not as nervous to try new things

Dont mind the price buy someone you like too lay your eyes on and feels good.

Remember that all helmets should be certifed so they should all protect your brain.

Ofcourse some would protect it more and others not but you can make the difference by just looking at the helmet.

Make sure you buy brand name and that its comfortable.

Helmets last you such a long time assuming you don't destroy it. I have a Giro from about 6 years ago now, they don't even make it anymore, which sort of makes me sad because if I ever have to get a new one I have no idea what i'd get. I paid 120 I believe for it, got 6 years out of it so far, thats lke 20 bucks a year. This helmet has so much character.

i have the giro 9 with the tune ups, plays music in the headphone peices, pretty sweet shit, but for anyone who gets a helmet, dont get the cheapest cause it is usually a peice of shit

yo, your heads your fuckin' head. Truthfully I would get something nice, for more expensive then some peice of shit thats not gonna really protect you, for cheap

I bought a Giro Atmos for riding my bike, best $185 I've ever spent. I'm planning on getting a G10 this season too. What do you guys think looks better with a primarily black/grey outfit, the black giro or the snow camo kinda one?

Just think of it this way: the price of your helmet will pale in comparison to the price of multiple doctor visits after you hurt yourself. I learned this the hard way unfortunately.

investing in a good helmet is key, I love helmets, they keep you warm and safe! Also I love that I am in a sport where the pros where helmets and people dont think there stupid. unlike skateboarding.......Skiing kicks ass

They G10 is well worth your money, I love mine, I had the nine.9 but they say every three years, you should replace your helmet, so I was due for a new one

Depends on what you want your helmet to do. I have a protec skate helmet, with soft foam padding, and it is designed to absorb impact in all falls, and thus prevent concussion.

The "styrofoam" variety are designed to take large hits, where some sort of concussion will take place regardless of the helmet. These try to protect your skull if say you hit a tree with your head going fast.

I realize that the protec is not as spendy, but I have only seriously hit a tree once and feel that smacking my head on the ground happens way more for me. Its a personal choice. Its your head.

i have the bad luietenant, payed a fair bit but i want one of those new bern helmets they are sick!

wait, so your friend is making fun of YOU for spending more money? wow, things have changed in the few years i've been out of the public school system. when i was in middle and high school, people caught shit because they had cheap stuff, not because they were rocking dope gear that was made by the best companies out there.

get the most expensive one-they are priced that much for a reason: quality. Giro are top of the line-they are warm and don't break.

overall, helmets are a lot cooler than hats-there are cool graphics and things like tune ups, not to mention that hey keep you warm..

i have 2 nines, 1 regular and 1 mx, best helmets iv used or tried on, warm and super comfy and light, and the tune ups are sick too

i say saving your head is worth as much as you can spend on your helmet so if you fall hard you can keep on skiing

i have an old ass giro 9 it sucks i paid way too much for it, i lost the earflaps.. so i can't wear it if it's anything below 25 degrees... yeah it sucks.

s&c provided me with a free 9mx after purchasing 3, selling two and wearing mine with cash in pocket.

I have a multiple impact beori that my rents got me years ago with fixed flaps for those extreme days.
