How much shorter do rockered skis ski?

Yo NS how much shorter do rockered skis ski? If i get a pair of armada alpha 1's in 182 is it gonna ski 10cm shorter than what it really is? or less than that? that is the question!

it usually depends on how much rocker the ski in question has.

ive ridden rockered 191s that feel like 180's, and ive ridden 196's that feel like 175s. but thats just me. whatever ski you're looking at might feel different between you and the next guy. go out and demo some rockers and see what feels good on your feet if you can get the chance.

also remember that sidecut has a TON to do with how short/long a ski rides, not just rocker

For the Alpha 1, I'd take which ever size you would normally ride at, then go up 1 size (so if with a normal cambered park ski you ride normally a 176, then go with a 182). There isn't too much rocker to the Alpha/Halo and the elf shoe keeps it fairly close to where you'd want to ski, but one size up would be a smart idea.

Honestly Im having trouble deciding. I looked at turn radius on them and a 176 is at 14m. and 182 is at 18.2m... If i ride a 176 that has turing radius of 20.5m then ideally i should get the 182cm. I talked to a couple guys who know there shit at ski shops and they both said i should go with the 176 and that the 182 would be a lot of ski. hmmmmm.... im debating on the alpha 1 or just going with the T-hall 176cm thats a true 176cm. I have never road rocker, but people tell me its really fun. awwww what to do what to do!

If they told you that, they honestly don't really know their shit. A 182 rockered twin is going to feel significantly shorter than a traditionally cambered twin. The 176 will feel like a 170, the 182 will likely have very close to the same effective edge as a traditional camber 176. Also, I'm 90% sure the turn radius on the 182 is shorter than 18.2m. More like 15m or 16m.

Also, the T-Hall is likely a poor alternative. These skis are not similar. For one, the Alpha one has a sintered base that will feel quite fast compared to the extruded base of the T-Hall. A closer alternative in traditional camber would be the Pipecleaner, which I highly recommend.

With that cleared up, I love both rockered and traditionally cambered park skis. I don't notice any difference in stability (I ride ON3P though and they run stiffer than average park skis), and I like having a stiff ski that is still easy to butter and take off switch.

If you have more doubts, call up SlopeStyle in Breckenridge and talk to Chris. He's ridden everything Armada has (since the company has existed) extensively and carries all these skis. He knows his shit and can point you in the right direction for sure. 970-547-4417

Smail RYTE on brotherrr! this was some very good information...It was my mistake on the turning radius dimensions of the alpha 1's... I was looking at the pipe cleaner, And i see it is a bit stiffer, compared to the t-hall I definantly was thinking about that ski, and also, how much slower is that s7 t-hall base gonna be? and would u reccomend me going with the 182 alpha 1's then?

Those are more pow specific skis, therefore the rocker is much bigger, therefore the effective edge is much shorter than a traditional 175.
