how much pro skiers earn

We all know that some pro snowboarders even put away millions of dollars a year. But what about freeskiers , snd I mean really big guns like Seth Morrison or Szõcs, I doubt that they would even get the 10% of that what snowboarders earn. Any info on that?

only guys like Shaun White or Jeremy Jones, but the other ones also get like 2-300 000 a year

 
well, if your talkin JUST snowboarding. no outside income, i'd say that shaun white, jp walker, jeremy jones, and peter line are makin the most

but with outside income, i would prolly go with MFM, cuz he has 'The Block' as a outside income.

but the pros get pretty much in theyre life for free.. such as clothes, skis, trips, food on the trips, partys on the trips etc

My understanding is that Pro Skiers have to pay there way alot of the time i dont know if that is true or not

i heard that even skiers that dont have any sponsers, dont know what parks are, ski 10 times a year, and dont compete make like $100,000 a year just skiing

some guys make bank, like candide signed a $125,000 contract with salomon when he switched off dynastar

bode miller and johnny moseley make more than a million each year from their ski companies

jon supposedly makes the equivalent of about $200,000 from head

most other people have much smaller retainers with their ski and clothing and eyewear companies, but it's enough to live decently on each year, especially because alot of other stuff is paid for.

then there are people like me who make nothing, get next to nothing and spend like 7-10 gs of their own money each year.

makes you wonder if those people are really worth that much more than you. ah well, fuckit

Depending on how the contract...you have photo/video incentives, meaning you get paid for shots of you published with logos and stuff. If you win a contest you usually get money from you sponsors for that. Travel expenses, free gear, and that stuff are also good. Bigger names have salaries too...if you have a pro-model you get a X-amount of dollars per item sold usually.

well here you go this is what tanner said on some show a while ago. with rossi he got 40,000 a year and like 15,000 from oakley but all the bonuses from winning comps like extra maybe like 10,000 or car or whatever, plus all your winnings maybe like 35,000 if you have a good seasonand all things considered about maybe lie 125,000-150,000 a year

this is what I've heard and know

1) tanner had money before he was pro, his rents had cash. he makes bank in comps, and mad sponsor.

2) oakley pays the 1242 athletes well!

3) jon makes more than 200,000/yr more like 320,000/yr.

4) CR makes more money in comps than in sponsorship.

5) steve podborski (canadian bronze medal downhiller) makes about 450,000 a year

6) M. Douglas makes somewhere between 200,000 and 350,000/year

7) most competing pros make enuf to live on the bare necessities and have their trips paid for by their companies and their comp fees.

Pro skiers don't do it for the money. Most of the 'pros' you see are actually LOSING money (see joker's post) every season. There are a few that make money, and a few that make very good money. The majority don't, and do it for the lifestyle.

i read in skiing or something that i think jp and jf were gettin a little over 40,000 from salomon before they left, a lot of well known skiers probably get between 100-200gs with their competiton, so even the best skiers out there arent becoming millioners off the industry

while being paid to ski would be nice its not a reality. if you add in goods that pros get (the MSRP on those goods) pros make a ton. if you add up the free stuff I go and I just teach skiing it was enuf to pay my rather expensive car insurance for a year.
