So im going to spain and france for 10 days and i was wondering how much money too bring. I dont need to pay for breakfast or diner. Just lunch then snacks and drinks. Is alcohol expensive? i have never been to europe so i have no idea.

I went to France for a week 4 years ago. Same situation, didn't need to pay for bfast or dinner. I took 1000 dollars. Didn't spend it all (well travelers checks, I didn't have a debit card then).

If I were you, convert over 100-200 Euros now. Incase you can't find a conversion place real quick over there. My first day in France I had 10 Euros. That got me lunch and nothing else.

Next, get a debit card if you don't already have one. Call your bank, alert them that you will be traveling to Europe so they know to allow money out overseas (some banks won't allow overseas withdrawals due to security).

Put 200-500 (more if you like to shop I guess) in the account. When you withdraw money from the ATM in Europe, it will come out as Euros.

So 300-700 depending on how much fun you wanna have, what your taste it, how rich you are, etc. no less than 300 though.

ONE MILLION DOLLARS

oh and my 7 days in france i spend about 400-500 american dollars which converted to euros at the time was 350ish-450ish? And I had to buy some people some gifts, which was around 100, so 250-350 Euro for yourself for 7 days seems probably right

cant stress this enough: alert your bank. the bank froze my card on a class trip to mexico and it sucks. i had my dad back in Seattle sort it out, but it is a pain nonetheless

.
no matter how much is on ur debit or whatever, if u dont alert ur bank they will most likely not let you take any money out.
this happened to me but i didnt really need any of tht money anywase... so i never alerted the bank, it was just an extra last minute hassle.

^ You mean heavy drinker if you buy your drinks in shops ;)

300 € is way enough as long as you don't do drugs all time, have to buy a lot of stuff or ski etc...

Where are you going exactly?

My advice would be to chill in France and party like an animal in Spain (wilder and cheaper)

This happened to me in Jamaica. It's pretty easy to sort out with a two minute phone call even after the fact, but that's just a pain in the ass. Just tell them ahead of time.

yup happened to me in canada the bank told me i had to go to the branch where i opened my account..

but it was a sunday, and I was in fucking Canada! the bank can be a real bitch sometimes. cash never does that to me
