How much is NS worth?

With the popularity of NS growing as a website, how much is it worth? How much do the owners make? Just curious as to how this site compares to ones such as facebook or google (I know they are way bigger..) where the owners make LOTS. Anyone have any clue?

I can guarantee the owners don't make a lot. The site as an entity, with the amount of members and activity as advertisement opportunities is worth a good amount, but a number I do not know.

Asking how much its "worth" is completely different than asking how much the owners make. "Worth" i generally a term applied to publicly traded company, which NS is not.

But I'm sure the owners make sufficient money through advertising... and a probably small amount through donations.

Side Note: If NS were traded, I'd buy their stocks

as a former web developer (if you guys wanna hate check out www.hardrow.com ) i can tell you that this site is EXPENSIVE to run, and really not worth all that much.

Why? A massive amount of content with seemingly no limit. This all has to be hosted and paid for (along with domain name, upkeep, etc) Also, it lacks basic web design. I mean, the (any) page is SO fucking cluttered(where are you supposed to look?). and the interface is straight shit...dear god. anyway,

point is, the domain name is worth more than the site itself. I would say $50,000 to buy the whole damn thing

Those valuations are for the actual domain name newschoolers.com and are based on traffic metrics, they have nothing to do with the underlying business, and are probably overinflated (domain names are not as relevant now anyway).

Any business entity can have a valuation, not just public companies (which you can use market cap as a valuation proxy).

The value of newschoolers is partly the ad revenue, but moreso the value of the community demographics and any data collected on users. Who knows how well they do this (not as well as Facebook obviously), but it's out there in forum posts, comments etc. This could be valuable to advertisers if used properly. Anyone buying would probably do a valuation based on those intangibles, but yeah, I doubt very much.

the fact that this confuses you is mind bottling. pokemon is at least 10 times larger and more popular then newschool freestyle skiing.

sorry if your just finding this out.

This is true. I would probably buy about 100 shares. NYSE, meet NS.

Another side note:

How many shares would you need to buy to recieve a red name?

If you're talking about the content online, I'd say NS is worth a few good laughs and a facepalm.

If we're talking about the people you can meet because of NS, the friendships that develop, and the good times that result, I'd say it's priceless.

nah, in the winter everyone is busy skiing and going to school. it's just the injured people online 24/7. in the summer, though...

It's more based on on the networth of the actual user.

I assume they gave it to me because they felt bad. I'm worth little to nothing.

Anyone else on here remember years ago before they really had any advertising at all when the NS guys would get on and make a post about donating and make a push because they had a budget to meet? That's how I got my gold coin. Now, contrary to what a few posts on here have mentioned, I highly doubt that donaters make up an even slighly significant portion of revenue/gross income. Though I must say I am awfully glad they made it through the mandatory donation days to make NS what it is. Good job guys. I hope that you turn it into a very profitable business.

Businesses are generally worth what there assets are worth, so basically the domain name, any real estate they own (office space, ect), product inventory and equipment (vehicles, cameras, ski gear)
