How much does your family know about freeskiing?

Alright so this year for christmas I asked for a lot of skiing stuff. I got this pimp under armor balaclava, some fresh dakine mittens, and a couple of tall tees/a really tall hoodie. as i tried on the hoodie, which goes down to my kneecaps, my grandparents and aunt and uncle were like wow, lisa (my mom), you must have made a mistake with the size of that sweat shirt, it is huge. and i was like no this is the size i wanted. long story short i ended up explaining free skiing and all the style and culture that comes with it to my whole family for like 15 minutes and they still didn't understand. quote of the day from my uncle, "don't they still have moguls that you can you go down?" so the question is, how much does your family know about our world of free skiing?
 
In your case it could just be grandparents being grandparents

The last time I heard someone use pimp as an adjective I was in 7th grade
 
my mum bought me a eastern collective beanie and face mask thing and spent the time to get it shipped from the USA.

my grandma bought me afterdark, a skullcandy chain and a tall tee! also from America!

I guess they know abit about skiing, to get me all the stuff I wanted and know the sizes

 
My mom knows a good amount. She knows which movies are which when I'm watching them and she definitely knows some pro's. She's in the clear.
 
my mom bought me a saga xl vest and was wondering why it was so long haha but they dont know to much about it
 
nothing at all. my dad says i look like a clown, and my mom just says "thats nice, i mean if its what you want" haha
 
my fam doesnt really know much besides we like to wear tall clothing and do flips haha but my dad is starting to recognize pros when i have on the dew tour or xgames needless to say i was slightly impressed
 
my dad knows some stuff because he will watch ski movies with me, but he will still get stuff mixed up, like he will say "is this an eye trip movie?" and i will have to explain everything about production companies and their names. but he does recognize some pros during x games/dew tour and he knows who tom wallisch is and refers to him as the godfather if big air hahah. and he helps me build my rails and boxes so i would say he is pretty knowledgeable.

and they know to buy me jiberish.
 
My Dad is pretty into skiing so he understands skiing and the whole aspect of free-skiing, but not really the technicalities. He has no idea what is going on with the outerwear stuff, but understands I like stuff big.

My Mom is well, my mom is oblivious as ever.
 
my dad can backflip and he said that if i built him another bc booter he will try a rodeo.. hes pretty sick
 
My dad walks around jumping off stuff and puts his arms straight down in front of him and goes "Oh afterburner"...

i grew up in a skiing family and we always get all the new movies and watch them together. they ask me to explain why kids wear dresses when they ski, I dont know what to tell them. not part of my "skiing culture"
 
i try to show my family edits and shit. i taught my mom steezey, but half the time she is stoned and says "skeezey" she knows jiberish and my dad knows about tom wallisch and his pro models but goes around telling people tom started full tilt and that tom is similar to seth morrison.
 
My mom kinda absorbs what it tell her, but I don't really talk about it anymore because it was getting on everyone's nerves for a while. However, she respects that I know what I'm doing when I want to buy something and that I won't regret it, so all is well. I'll turn a WME movie on on demand and my family will watch it. They all enjoy skiing, but not enough to go more than a couple times a season. My older brother is getting a little bit more into it though.
 
My mother knows more about freeskiing than my old man. But, she is so afraid of getting the wrong stuff that she stays clear from getting me stuff. Which is fine! She used to pay for my time in the mogul team so I am greatful for that
 
My mom used to come on newschoolers and watch videos so when she went to my competitions she would understand it more. She thinks rails are dumb but jumps are cool. And my dad knows what certain tricks are i think like a rodeo and a cork.
 
they dont know shit. my dad looks at the jumps were hitting and thinks were crazy. he doesn't understand why we would hit those huge jumps, let alone hit them going switch. it's pretty funny!
 
my mom understands it and her one main fear is me getting caught in an avy which is completely understandable. My dad is a lot more chill but he cant ski hard anymore since he shattered his meniscus
 
Only what I've told them, but that's ok because my dad is still an awesome skier at 64. I hope/plan to still be shredding when I'm his age :)
 
Really I can see how people don't understand it. As a matter of fact the whole freeskiing culture is just hilarious, in terms of style. I still love it though.
 
they understand that tall tees are cool, and know what it looks like and all, but they dont know the names of any pros or tricks or anything, and they are very easily impressed and then they tell me im too cynical if i say im not impressed by like a cork 9.
 
my parents knowledge of free skiing is tanner hall breaking his ankles over chads gap...I'm pretty sure they showed that video to every co-worker/friend when I showed it to them.
