How much does skateboarding help?

Alright so a few buddies of mine from work convinced me to buy a board and start riding with him. Literally today. Anyways I just wonder how much skateboarding actually helps with park skiing. I've heard it can really help with balance and stuff.

i mean, rollerblading would probably help more with skiing. don't skate to help skiing, ski if you want to help skiing. skateboarding is fun on it's own. i guess anything that makes you a better action sports athlete will help.

Yeah I'm not getting into to solely help with skiing. I'm an action sports fan and I really wanted something fun to do in spring, summer, and fall.

The relationships are

Skateboarding Snowboarding (and back)

Rollerblading Skiing (and back)

Scootering being buttfucked (and back)

But by skateboarding even though it is not really directly linked to skiing in the sense like rollerblading is, it does help with creating your own unique style when it comes to skiing. Have you seen Clayton Villa? He is a big skateboarder and uses it to inspire his skiing, hence all the blunt-slides and he does on ski's. Also, skateboarding will help with you being generally athletic and staying in shape post season. Plus, it builds your confidence in your self. Obviously, rollerblading will help A LOT MORE cause it is much more similier to skiing, but you will receive a lot of backlash from your skater buddies.

IT helps with snowboarding a bunch but not sure if it would help much with skiing. It would probably make you a better skier getting good at it, but don't think it translates directly the way it does to snowboarding.

Fun if you have the time though. Why not. Also like others said I think inline would translate more to skiing.

honestly I think it helps a lot, for rails anyways... I naturally ride goofy but push with my right foot so I forced myself when I started skating to ride regular so I wouldn't push mongo and look like a fag. I can comfortably slide rails both ways and I think there's a connection there

i mean skateboarding is in so many ski edits. therefor if you want to be any good at skiing you obviously have to skate.

SKATEORDIE!!

the only way skating has influenced my skiing is the way i get onto a rail. a plus though is being able to natty 270 on and land natty on a rail

i was thinking about getting into skating next summer but half of my friends longboard and half of them skate... so which do u think would translate more into skiing?

Well since longboarding is the easy version of skateboarding I'd say skateboarding but skateboarding is more fun anyway. You can do basically everything you can do on a longboard and a whole lot more. Also, most of my longboarder friends are getting bored now only after a couple months and are now looking to buy a skateboard, so get a skateboard cause it's fun as fuck
