How much does legal bud cost in colorado?

Im curious because i was informed that its higher than the black market price but i wanted to ask someone who has bought it legally. If what Ive heard is true this whole campaign for legalization is going to go down the drain.

Expect to pay $100 for a quad, which is the maximum that out of state adults can buy from a retail vendor.

Edibles, oil and nug are all limited in purchasing quantity and are heavily taxed

holy tits thats expensive. my friend gets quads at 35-45 depending on the stuff. Granted he does sell his dealers brownies for free at school though.

for real? $100 for a 1/4, must be the best weed of all time. How much was the street price for a 1/4 in Colorado last month?

>Stoners bitch about weed not being legal for years on years.

>Weed becomes legal

>Stoners bitch about how much money they have to pay for felony-less bud.

Report came out this morning in Denver that the price has gone up something like 250% since the start of the year due to the high demand

Yeah it's crazy crazy expensive and going up, but a lot of places are running out of weed so they can really charge whatever until they start to get more stock in.

In the next year 10 times as many stores will open and then the price will really start to go down. It'll be pretty expensive for a while though.

Which isn't surprising. I mean cell phones cost an arm and a leg right when they came out.

It's only a matter of a couple grow cycles before the supply catches back up. It's an economic no brainier.

heard residents with a drivers license can get up to an ounce for like 200. i think thats a pretty standard street price, at least in my area it is.

couldn't you just buy from a dealer for cheap "illegally" and then put it a container from a recreational shop, and then if a cop asks it's legal...right?

Lol.

lol

lol

lololololololol

It's legal to have it. Unless you've exceeded your allowable limit (1 oz for resident, 1/4 for non) or you're under 21, you're allowed to have it. If they ask where you bought it, just say, "I don't remember, I'm baked."

If $100 for a quarter (What I'm assuming the 2nd or 3rd post is calling a quad) then that's what I pay here in NC

I went 2 days ago to a shop. The guy in line next to me said he had been to every shop open so far (it is only like 35 and he went to like 15 the first day) and he said this was on the cheaper side and i paid $60 for an 1/8th when i normally get medical for 25 for 1/8th and street bud for 20 1/8th

I read that the first dude who bought some payed like 60 for an eighth.. I think..

Expensive, but what did everyone really expect?

That is 100% totally false.

50 (after tax) for the absolute best they have in Breck, good quality for 40.

Alpenglow Botanicals has tiered quality each at a different price point. The "top shelf" is 40 an 1/8, plus tax which is just less than $10. They then step down to Grade A, and on down.

Do people not realize that as of Jan 1 2015, the price will drop significantly? There is an "excise tax" that will only apply for the first calendar year to offset the expense of setting up the whole schematics. That excise tax is 10-15%,

Yes, the recreational/retail pot is definitely quite a bit more expensive than what you find here in CO (maybe 7.50 a gram up to 10, but say roughly 35 an 1/8), but that's missing the point. YOU CAN FUCKING WALK INTO A STORE AND CHOOSE FROM OVER A DOZEN STRAINS AND COUNTLESS TYPES OF EDIBLES AND CONCENTRATES. I don't care who you are or what you say, but we've all picked up from our regular guy and got the spiel, "Yeah man, it's new shit, it's bomb!!" and it's wet as fuck, immature and a total let down. There is something to be said for a higher level of consistency and being able to sample different kinds and figure what you really like, as opposed to just take it or leave it.

The fact that you can walk into a store between 9am-10pm and get pot is pretty fucking incredible, and obviously the option to grow and continue to go about business as usual is there, but this is another choice. Again, whoever you are, there's been a time when guy 1, 2, and 3 are flaking, not answering, out, have bunk shit, etc. and this if nothing else is a backup.

I don't understand why so many people are trying to poo poo this whole thing, it's lame as fuck and pretty transparent. This is a huge step in an ongoing process.

the guy i talked to said in breck it was 500 for an oz and that he had been there the day before... he couldve been lying but looked online and it didnt seem far off. Also, there is medical and then top shelf. there are still medical only strains in co so you arent getting the best stuff. you arent even getting the top 5 strains probably. It is nice to go into a store in a pinch but if you have friends with red cards (and its co so you probably do) then they can get you the same shit or better for cheaper and only in a pinch would you have to go to the shop

yeah, same here in NY without the amazing selection or choice of indicia or sativa. And oil is even more expensive and harder to find a steady dealer.

yea prices are rubbish right now, just wait till more open up and they'll go down, but its not just high demand its the fact that they tax it like 40% or something ridiculous like that..

Guy above said it was only 15%, still quite a bit and for the first year only.

A couple things, the prices WILL go down, as stated before it's a matter of basic economics.

I mean if they think they can keep charging these prices they're stupid. It's absolutely absurd really. There will be a time when quarters will be 30 bucks for the top tier brands, mark my words. It's farming, and no offense to "growers" but big ag is goign to jump on this eventually and start making this shit a lot easier for everyone. I mean easier for everyone except your dreaded dealer and buddy who grows. So yeah, easier for everyone really.

I just hope I don't have to hear "the corporations maaaaaaaaaaaaan" next time I'm pulling tubes with some of my tahoe bros.

duh its gonna be a little more expensive, legit people will find there own ways of obtaining buds for prices they find reasonable, but a lot of people from out of state are and will continue to be thrilled to go and buy weed and edibles in a store free of worry. they've already made a lot of money in just a few days. its been too short a time to tell, but i dont think there's going to be a problem selling legal bud for higher prices

I think having weed cost a little more than you're used to is fine, you're pumping a shit ton of money into your state economy.

Weed tax could literally help take the USA partially.. PARTIALLY out of this insane dept we're in. CO is going to earn 400 million in ONE YEAR of weed tax. That's ONLY 5.2mil people, think if the entire county legalized weed, this is based off of the most rough numbers, but $400mil per 5mil people means the USA could earn 26.8 BILLION dollars.

26.8 BILLION DOLLARS OUT OF FUCKING THIN AIR HOLY FUCK usa needs to wake the fuck up.

HOLY SHIT NOT TO MEANTION THE $7.6 billion (NRML) THAT WOULD BE SAVED FROM WEED RELATED ARRESTS.

36.4 billion, per year, at literally no cost. COME ON

you're preaching to the wrong choir brotherman! We know! Now the word about the corruption keeping it illegal needs to have the light shed on it!!!!

I knew weed could generate a shit ton of tax revenue, but its wild to see the numbers. 1til in tax rev every 3 years... like for real.

I think you mistyped there or whatever, in CO alone it would be over 100 billion in 3 years, which is still astounding by any means. If you're referring to the US as a whole though, 1 trillion in 3 years is more feasible, but I don't necessarily know if it would happen

Not trying to call you out, but i think your prices are a bit skewed. They seem more realistic for a medical patient who is a member at Alpenglow, not your average joe without a red card. And no way rec pot is going for less than 10 a gram, I am a medical patient and my caregiver gives me bud for just a little less than 10 a gram. ANYWAY, I totally agree with you that legalization is nothing but a good thing, and regardless of prices anywhere it is only going to get better and better from here. You cant complain about being able to just drive down the street to the weed store when your out of buds, I love Colorado.
