How much does a pro realistically make?

Like say you have someone who doesn’t have their own stuff for sale, just sponsored by like 4ish big companies. How much do you think they would realistically make?

The only people making a decent amount of money off of skiing are the very top energy drink athletes and social media skiers. Even fwt winners only get 5k ish.

type 1- the local freeride coach who got like 18 brands in his bio but his clips are all shiftys and 3s. He gets to buy a little gear at wholesale once a year. lives at his parents place on the mountain. Negative money

type 2- the guy you know who is really good but too busy sledding and hitting 45 blinkers a day to film a whole part. Gets free skis and probably a $250 filming budget if he asked his rep for it

type 3- most pro skiiers you see in films. Enough to eat through the winter but still gotta have a pretty solid summer job to keep the lifestyle going. Some of them work desk for their brand as well.

type 4- dudes with their own pro models/endorsements etc. baseline not rockstar money but enough to live off. When you have that type of influence you can start brands or take ownership options as well. Like Candide starting his own ski co, thall cofounding Armada, or Cody Townsend even starting Arcade Belts. That’s definitely where the real money would be at, but no way to know what these guys are pulling.

found a list for this:https://www.rookieroad.com/skiing/top-10-richest-skiers-7678521/

It's almost impossible to estimate because they receive money from so many different sources. Look up Stab Magazine's series "How Surfers Get Paid" and see how complex action sport compensation really is... then divide the numbers in half because surfers get paid way more than skiers.

T wall, Henrik, and A hall are all millionaires from what I've found and none of them are on this list which seems to think Jon Olsson isn't a billionaire lol

the only way jon olson made millions was his mom writing him checks...

the reason he he quit skiing.

im actually impressed a rich kid strived as hard as he did , to spend his moms money. . .

Eileen Gu pulled $22 million last year. Most of it not ski related.

if eileen was more busy tryna be swag she could’ve been the first woman to do a triple 14, maybe even 16. but so far it seems like she’s been too busy becoming a socialite.

Pinkbike did a survey of DH mtb racers last year and found that for the most part, the vast majority of pros (as in actively competing in world cup racing) make less than 50k/yr, and like 40% of them make less than 5k/yr. Another thing to consider is the riders are often paying for their own travel and stuff too, so their "take home" might be even less.

It would be cool if there were a similar survey for freeskiers, my guess is its similar to mtb where basically like 30 people tops are actually paid enough to do normal middle class stuff like buy a house without needing a summer job of some sort, and the rest are either glorified ski bums or rich kids
