How much do team riders affect what skis you buy?

So im just curious , how much do pro skiers influence the choice you make when buying your skis??

 
idk i think that if a pro skier is supporting the ski it must be decent...imo
 
ahah i dont know how to explain it but that seams really stupid to me.

people ride for teams get FREE skis so they can go through how ever many they need
 
Yes... zero percent.. I ride skis because I like them... I don't care if the pros like them or not.
 
if they ride it id guess its semi decent but i go for price and what other people think of it
 
i think it matters..... depending on how the rider is outside of skiing, like his or her personality will put a good or bad name on the company. i dont look at the skiing at all. i like to support companys with a cool group of workers and riders. and i also look at the quality of the other products they put out.
 
like most people, whoever rides the same ski i have affects my decision to have bought it in no way.

I buy based on what i read, and feel, and ski

a big factor in my decisions is the freeskier buyers guide
 
team riders dont affect my decision at all. its all on what i know about the companys history and the build of the ski
 
well i guess if team riders have input on the ski your may like the ski more as in its performance. so if you want a big mountain ski, you might be looking at a ski that pollard uses because he shreds the backcountry. The ski must be well designed for backcountry if he made it himself specifically for BC. If you want a pipe ski, you wanna look at who is winning pipe comps so you get an idea of a possible pipe ski. If the person is winning pipe comps on that ski, it most likely is a good ski.
 
i think since armada for example has a bunch of big pros, people will buy their skis or at least try them out over a company such as high society (just a smaller company i chose). bigger pros, means more well known ski company, which means more interest.
 
except the freeskiers buyers guide is really biest. its judged by using the real graphics (nearly every other buyers guide gets skiers to cover up there skis)and i believe in the last years issue on one of the skis they rated it low because of some bs reason.

but i deff check it out, i just keep that in the back of my mind.
 
actually the only time it doesnt influence me is when it comes to soft sticks. I have noooo idea how people like Olenick can throw down so hard on such noodles.
 
I think where pro riders mount their skis influences where I mount my skis. For the three pairs of skis I've purchased, a manufacturer's pro team has had no influence.
 
most of the time it doesnt affect me because i figure most riders just ski for whom ever will pay them the most.
 
pep and pollard obviously affected a lot of people since most people are jumping on the fat and/or rockered ski bandwagon
 
It influences my choice a fair amount. It has very little to do with the skier as a person, but the type of skier they are. If the guys ride like how I ride, or how I'd like to ride, I'm going to consider the ski. My decision isn't also based on a single pro either, more often than not its the entire team that might use the ski.

Mostly though, I base my decisions on design (not graphics) and flex, then possibily price.
