How much a pro skier makes a year?

most sponsors will match whatever you make at a contest. so say dumont or tanner takes home like 40k in contest winnings a year he really takes home alot more than that... i have nothing concrete but from who i have heard each sponsor will match whatever you win so say their winnings are something like ~40k they would actually take home closer to like 100-120k after all the sponsors chipped in... plus whatever they pay them a year, and forget about travel budgets. when all is said and done i could believe a number in the 250k+/year number for a bigger name pro and substantially lower as you move down the food chain which sucks because you think about dudes like tanner rainville, corey vanular, adam delorme, liam downey... they are some of the most photogenic athletes in the sport and when you think about it they really should be getting more exposure and compensated for it as well

personally i's rather see a squence of tanner rainville switch 9 double grabbing over something sick with a dope sunset behind him than simon dumont double frontflipping down some scaffolding and getting paid more than t rains makes in a summer for it

quite simply put, if you arent a competitior you get paid shit all. well put.
think of it this way, alot of the skiers that actually are sick and do there own thing, or just film, probably are making less than 20g a year, and that probably is including the money they make coaching at summer camps, and working.

piss

the RedBull sticker is a pretty good sign that an athlete is getting paid a decent chunk of cash.

The guys at the very top like Jon Tanner and Candide make good money, not ridiculous amounts, (well jon drives a lambo) but pretty good money. Most guys make just enough to get by

I doubt Red Bull pays that much to any single athlete especially a skier. If you look at Red Bull GmbH's balance sheet, you'll see its "other" liabilities outstanding at only 145,559,000 euros.

Keep in mind, they own 2 soccer teams, several sports racing teams, athletes in many, many sports, and all their peripheral advertising. Now, after buying the New York Metrostars (the above figure was given in the same year that Red Bull purchased the soccer team), im assuming they only had ~50M euro left over.

After all's said and done, im guessing their skiier budget is only like 2 mill! maybe less than 1.

i would say around 100,000but u cant forget about the competitions they got to. because if u win a comp u do get money. so its kind of based on how many competitions u win

I t really is not all that feasible. You would have to be a complete idiot to buy a car like that with that type of salary. It is certainly not an investment, it is a non-necessary depreciating asset with a huge amount of insurance and upkeep. To make it even remotely reasonable to buy such a vehicle you need to be making quite a bit more than 200,000.

Magoon won $60,000 in comps 2 years ago. then he got his sponsors and articles/ads in magazines which you get compensated for.

Pk hunder had an income of 32 000$ in 2007.

This is strictly based on his taxes. This information is avivable to everyone with an internet connection here in Norway.

If you wan't to see crazy figures have a look at Terje HÃ¥konsen's income. He made a little under 1 000 000$ in 07 with a staggering 4 539 029$ in total wealth.

Some of the top big mountain/backcountry film guys do make some money, most don't. If you are a park guy and don't compete you won't make any money. Sage probably makes decent money, not like Tanner or Candide, but enough to buy a house and live well.

are you sure its not in krone or something like that cause it would make a lot more sense. anyway thats still BIG money for doing something that you love like skiing and i wish i could make that a year soeday.

yeah but dont forget his wife is a model and is probably making very decent money. plus hes never at home and most of his expenses are probably paid when hes travlling so this is already a lot of money he doesnt need to spend. plus casr are his passion so why not have a lambo.

totally depends, sponsors, comps, and everything

but hey who cares about money... if you get enough and still get free gear and get to ski... thats the life.

you're also not factoring in that that is just his redbull contract. im sure he gets plent of money from oakley, head and cross.

I'm guessing Jon Olson comes from a very wealthy background in the first place that puts him in a privileged financial situation. Maybe he gets hooked up with some deals in that industry as well and makes some extra big bucks.

A small condo in New-York is $500,000. A small condo in Monaco is probably closer to $2,000,000 euros. And the primary reason people establish residency in Monaco is to avoid paying taxes, meaning he (and/or his family) must have quite a fortune, which I highly doubt was established from skiing.
