i have a list of manufacturers, but not retailers. it is around 3,000 i believe though

wrong thread? I believe this info is actually on sia's website in one of the available documents. let me do a quick search and I'll get back to you. I look at my market intel report and didn't see those stats.

Download the one called: March 2011: Executive Market Summary
The market is split by Chain, Specialty, and Internet retailers. On page 20 it will tell you the sample size and how they created the report, I think it will give you some of the info you are looking for.
These are excellent reports to use for school. I used them all the time for paper's and project during undergrad and grad school.
They are free to everyone too, taken right off of www.snowsports.org. Hope this helps.
