How many people have died?

I was just thinking, there has to be an actual number of people who have died. Thats a pretty wild thought. Any guesses how many?

No, not even relatively close. The birth rate hasn't been one person born per second since existance, people haven't been around since earth's existance, and we don't even correctly know the age of earth.

In order to figure out the deaths, we need to know the exact population of the world in every spectrum of time. It's impossible to give anything but a ballpark guess.

100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

it wouldnt really be that rediculously high of a number

i bet it would be in the high billions/low trillions

becuase before the 1900's the earths population

really wasnt that high. im callin 4,360,879,200,723 deaths

but yah the earth has been around for a really long time, and it never started at 1.. it goes back over 2,000 B.C. and there have been massive plagues.. and everythign like that.. i'm not sure how big the number would be, but its probialy a google... and no not the fucking website the number google 100 to the power of ten

I'm guessing half a trillion, 500 billion. Thats just a really rough guess, an accurate guess would depond on when you estimate human speciation to occur. If you only count the last 30,000 years from Cro Magnon on it would probably be much less but if you counted australopithescenes like Lucy and all other hominids all the way back to our common ancestor with apes- it would probably be way way way higher over the course of those millions of years.

It really depends on when you count humans as a species. If we go back, we're all decended from one single celled organism, or LUCA. If you include all ancestors of humans right now that number will be incredibly huge. If you make an imaginary line that seperates Homo Sapien from the say Homo Erectus, Homo Africanus and Neanderthals, I bet that number would be around 10 to 20 trillion.

Genetic Research has shown that our modern species of Homo Sapien began about 200,000 years ago, and that all human DNA in the gene pool now came from a smaller pool of about 10,000 individuals. With growth rates staying pretty much constant, we as a species didnt really begin to populate until about 10,000 years ago. Thus, the rate until then would pretty much be linear. In the last few thousand years, growth rates have soared, but the recent mass population probably wont make a major dent in the numbers collected from 200,000 years to 10,000 years ago. My guess might be a little high, but someone could do the math.

ive always thought about this...

if a person dies every (whatever) seconds

and a person is born every (whatever) seconds

how does it balance out?

like, eventually, we would either get over populated, or under populated right?

Well 6 billion people dont die and birth every second...

And for shits and giggles...here is a population growth chart for humans on earth

can the earth handle the number of people it'll have in just a couple of hundred years?

I guess so, I mean im sure if you asked that question 200 years ago people would share the same answer of definitely not. Though, with modern medicines and stuff like that (though granted the availability of medical care isn't close to what it in 3rd world countries rather than modernized countries like the US) plagues aren't as common and devastating to control the populaton. hmmm. i guess we'll just wait and see. btw, i just wasted 5minutes of my life thinking and writing about this.

we're definately gonna to expirience some sort of plague. the rich will have connections to the remedy and the poor will die, a population cleansing. there needs to be a drop in population and the power elite of the world will create it and kill mass amounts of people. besides the world is fucked anyway due to the human interaction with it, if we don't control ourselves, we will feel the wrath of mother nature. hopefully our species can survive that one, and hopefully im dead already.

moral of this post: if you have AIDS go fuck some people, you're helping the future.

i hope you get aids! jk. seriously though, whatever we do we're all gonna die eventually, the human race isn't great, its not like the planet will get lonely without us.

alright using the graph, If between 7000BC and 1800 AD an average of 500,000,000 million people were alive at one time. If you have an average life span of 50 years you end up with 176 generations of 500,000,000 people who are all dead. That ends up being 88 billion dead between 7000bc and 1800 ad

500,000,000 right? Not 500,000,000 million?

Ok, so some simple math now. 7000 years to 1800 years is 5200 years. We'll go for a max number, and maintain that the population will be maintained at this level abouts. In 5200 years, 88 billion died, so in the span of 200,000 years: 3.385 Trillion people died.

Thats 3,385,000,000,000. Add the worlds current population/death from the last few centuries, and you probably add only about 20 billion to that.

However, I dont think the mean average lifespan used is correct, I would use more like 30. The average lifespan didnt hit 50 until the 1500's. Life was rough.

if you go by the bible, you start with two people in about 6000 BC

so the number would be a lot lower

it doesnt make sense that there ever were just two people because there have been people evolving on their own on seperate continents and if there were only two people there would only be one inhabited continent until we learned to travel

Its really simple, all you have to do is figure out how many people have been born and then subtract the number of people still living. duh

You could totally make this an easy calculus problem. You would just need an approximate function for the population, figure out the area under that curve (it will be some sort of parabola), and then subtract how many people are alive today.

that makes no sense. i would like to ask to you to please refrain from makikng comments like this without pauseing to think if they make a atleast SOME sense. good day

and that # would be WAY more than the number of people that have died.
