How many of you got new skis this year?

This is kind of a little poll I'm doing as far as who got new skis this year. Since 1999, I've purchased 2 pairs of skis. The original PRs off ebay in 2001, and I got some Karmas from a Volkl rep for $300 last season. It actually pisses me off that so many people get new skis every year, I can't imagine what you do with the ones from last year. Do you just throw them away? Anyway, I won't rant about this subject (although it really does piss me off, are all of you rich??). OK, so who got new skis and which ones?

I was rocking some Fischer carving skis from 99-00 until last year when i got the PEs. I quickly realized that they were too short so went back to just riding the Fischers for a while till jsut recently when i sold them on ebay and bought some Salomon Foils that should arrive at my dorm like today or tommorow. So the moral of the story, the Fischer crving ski has taught me all the new school shit i know (spins and rails)

i skied the first pair of 1080s till armadas came out, then bought those and skied them 3 years till the very end of last year, i bought some publics, and was using the armadas as rails skis since the sidewall blewup. i skied the publics 9 times total(onced this year) and snapped both the tails off. The armadas broke in half(core and everything clean in half) while doig urban a week ago. fortunatelyy meathead filsm was kind enough to hook meup with 2 pairs of heads for the season. i just skied the mojo 80's last night and let me say they are sweet.

It seems that people get new skiis every year because they have worse construction and durability each year, at least park skis that is.

I'm certainly not rich, i just find awesome deals.

last year i bought the 04 Mike Nicks off ebay for a decent price.

Then after the snow melted, i found a pair of 05 Mothership Flites with R10s mounted on them for $330! just no way in hell i could pass that up for a powder ski.

Then early this year, i found a new pair of 05 AR5's for $300, and bought freedom plates for $30. sure as hell couldnt pass that up either. Thats 3 kick ass set ups for about $1K.

then i laugh at my friend who just bought his 06 AR5's for $650 off a dealer website, with no bindings.

cant beat LINE and ARMADA..dont even try.

i don't see how getting new skis every year is so hard to understand. if you have a job, just save up for a couple months. if skiing is your favorite activity/sport/pastime then it shouldn't be hard for you to save money to buy skis.

i love to ski, and because of that, about 70 percent of the money i make, minus bills, rent, food and such, goes to skiing. wether it be skis, a jacket, trips or competetion fees.

I got 1 new set and 3 more on the way. So I must really piss you off! My old ones I rail or give away/sell super cheap to my friends.

I'm glad I piss you off.

I got some new bindings and goggles. Does that make you angry?

I bought new gloves too... feeling upset still? haha

Just got some new long under wear as well!

New helmet shipped soon.

Man I must really be pissing you off.

I just bitch at my parents till they buy me whatever I want.

I buy a new pair of skis every year, big deal.

Skis arn't meant to be skied THAT many times, I mean think about it. the average gaper ski 10 days a season and might hold on to a pair of skis for a couple of years. so in total they ski a ski maybe 30-40 times before upgrading to something new.

I on the other hand, ski 120+ days a season and it is a miracle of modern ski technology that I can go that long (completely abusing the ski) without snapping them. When you are charging and hitting rocks all the time and hucking cliffs onto hardpack you can't expect skis to last all that long. I just put it into perspective I will ski a ski 120+ times before retiring it, I don't throw it away I just use it as a rock/jib/park ski after it's been throughouly abused.

Ya but you are really pissing this kid off! I think you should stop getting new skis. I'm sure you could get more than 120 days on your skis! Man I couldn't imagine what some of my sticks would look like after that many days.

I got my skis today, and had them mounted within an hour ready for tommorow. They are beautious. My friend and I rode them back from the parking lot (no ski boots necessary)

i had some dynastar's for like 3 years, then last year i got some mike nick's and will probably pick up another pair for cheap at the end of this year for next season.

i had shitty shitty volkls for like 5 years, but this year i spent quite a bit of money on skiing. i got the new guns from salomon, 140 ti scratch bindings, the new teneighty foil boots, new burton cargo pants, new silver cartel jacket, new 5 speed poles, new giro g10 mx with the audio whatever thing, snow camo wisdoms with the fire irdium replacement lens, anon figments, and a shitload of new clothing. thats alot eh?

got ar5's last year but they are trashed, need new skis(chunks of edge are missing or sticking out) but i don't have any money

I normaly get new skis every year because they are alomost close to being trashed and for some reason people will still buy them for like $250-300 w/ bindings. Then I go on ebay with that money I made and look for skis that I want and only have to throw in about $100 for a brand new pair of skis.

A. This kid doesn't know shit about anything

B. I mountes his skis today, and they are pretty cool, and I Rounded his edges under the boot.

C. I got some new t-halls to compliment my p.e's from last year.

The moral is I am waay better, and I have cooler skis.

I did, one pair for free, and the other have been 2 years coming. I broke one of my publics last year.

i picked up a pair of great condition 198 rossi vipers with sweet marker bindings for $10

i got troublemakers for the 03/04 season, and rode them both that season and 04/05. i then sold them with profit considering the abuse and got ar5s this year.
