How long will the skis last without a part of sidewall

In photo are used skis. It seems that the sidewall on the tail has been removed too much.

What will happen to these skis and how long will the skis last? Anyway to repair?

It’s a pretty straightforward fix, tape off the topsheet and base, fill it with epoxy (something flexible and waterproof, like West G Flex) and clamp it if the ski is delaminating.

if you don’t fill it with epoxy you’ll get water in it which will freeeze and expand, which will cause progressive delamination.

If you store them in the basement they will last many decades.

But yea, if you want to use them, you have to plug those holes. Like the guy said epoxy is the way, a flexible version of epoxy, like west marine sells for boats.

How many days of riding would it take to get enough water in the ski to ruin it? I would assume its not the same for all skis but an estimate would be nice to hear.

Thanks. I ordered west system g/flex 650 trying to fix myself though it is a hard work bc the sidewall is so flush with metal edge.

Out of curiosity, I would like to know for such porous condition how long will the "progressive delamination take.

Depends on a number of conditions such as:

#1- If water goes in there (it will)

how often you ski

temperature

if you store skis in dry area

how hard you ski

id just plug it, my guess is one season but not a second.
