so i got some shin bang today, and i have baseball tryouts monday...will it be ok by then? i dont think its too bad of a shin bang but if i touch it it kinda hurts like a big bruise.

it lasted about a week for me but mine wasnt that bad......it hurt with a ski boot on but not with it off but how bad is it......

i can walk on it and all and hurts like barely, hurts a little if i apply enough pressure on it, thats about it.

ok if starts really hurting id soke it in a hottub or a bath but other than that unfortunately time is the best medication

depends entirely on a)how bad the initial injury was b) how much skiing you did in the hours and days after and c) how well you treat it in terms of ice, rest etc.

minor hurt usually lasts like 2 days. Ive had it so bad i couldnt walk in my ski boots AT ALL and that lasted around a week.

I was skiing 2-3 times a week and had it soooooo bad. I finally said riding at 50% a lot is worse than 100% not as much, so I took a week off and just rested em and then had my best day of the whole season just cause I was comfortable and not dreading every landing.

i ran a mile time trial for track about a week ago 2 days after getting shin bang. i could feel it but it didn't really bother me except when i skiied. it was gone in like 4 days

Shin bang doesnt hurt unless your really skiing. give it like a week, then you will be able to ski one day, give it two weeks, then you will be able to ski 2 days. and so on.

My buddy had a pair of 1080's always complained of shin bang. then got spk's and doesnt complain anymore. I got beasts and have never had it with them. My old boots were bad.

I got really bad shin bang last season and never took a break to let it heal and it was been hurting ever since. I hope my new boots make it feel beter

2 seasons ago i had shin bang all season long.

it sucked. but now with my new boot even when i do get it its not as bad as it was before. so i can always ride through it.

i had it last season for the whole season. it sucked it got to the point where my shins would turn purple and swell way up. it sucked andd i had SPKS

just keep stretching it and icing it. Shin bang is more of a muscle stretch than a bruise, even though it hurts to touch. And tighten your boots dammit.

yea i hear u i got a super bad case luckly at the end of my break 10 days of straight skiing so i rested them for the next weekend still hurt a little bit but nothing bad at all...my friend had a HORRIBLE case of it barely could walk and toughed it out and we had a pow day one day and he just trooped throught it. the worst is when its so good but u cant go to full potential.

anyways for thread creator i would say just rest it up ice if but it wont help that much. but u should be fine for baseball tryouts.

Booster straps will save your life. I had the worst shin splints all year and then I got booster straps and they helped so much.

That shit is for life. No not really It'll usually last a couple days and treating helps it heel faster. You can run something hard like a ski pole down your shins to break up the cartilage, or whatever causes it. You have to press really hard, it hurts like a bitch for a while but will get better. Definitely get your boots checked they're probably to big and not a pair of SPK's.

sometimes when im training for other sports i still feel it from last season, i think it pretty much depends on how bad you get it.

it will last as long as you keep reinjuring your shins. you may have to take a short break to let your shins heal. i know breaks suck but the longer you put it off the worse it will be

it depends on how bad they are there are a ton fo exercises that you can do in conjunction with iceing and heating, masage therepy too, that really helps to ease pain and strengthen them up so they don't get as bad. i've been dealing with them since before high school. drugs will help too

if they're really bothering you when skiing, i would suggest getting some booster straps. my friend's got them and he never complains of shin bang. My SPK's are also really comfy, and i only remember getting shin bang like once last season with them,

shin bangs is because of a bad boot and of skiing pow with centered bindings and/or leaning to much back when skiing. to get it away just heat the leg up for so cooling it down. it can last from a couple of days to about 1 year i guess, depends on how seriuos it is.
