How long does it take You to Learn a Trick?

I've been skiing for about 13 years but I've only been skiing park for about 2. It took me almost half a season to get 3 down just skiing on my back yard, I didnt get to mountains that much but now that im in college and will hopefully be going to the loaf and river every weekend. I starting to progress at a much faster rate and am super pumped to finally start skiing again this winter. How fast did you NS'ers learn new maneuvers?

for rail tricks probably one a day, for airs maybe like a week to really get it down. (back flips took me forever)

Some come easier than others. It was really easy to learn 2's out of rails but 2's on are ridiculously hard to learn

this totally depends on the trick and when do you really have a trick in the bag?if you can land it ? or if you can land it with a whole array of different grabs/shifties and afterbang ?

i ski dryslope usually in england in 2 hour 30 min sessions. usually learn 1 to 2 rail tricks a sesh. depending on what they are. learned unnat front swap 2 out and britneys last time.

I honestly don't have many tricks that are that difficult, but when I want to learn something, it usually takes me like 4 attempts unless it's real hard.

Switch Lips took me 3 tries, 4 out took me 1 (couldn't get it for like 5 more after, though...), blind 4 took me like 6

As you can probably tell, I'm mostly a rail skier.

most come pretty quick for me. but front swap pretzel 2 has been talking FOREVER tried it all last season and landed about 10

1 day for each rail trick? maybe 2out and switch up but things like britanny,k-fed,2in,2in pretz 2out,super k-fed, super britanny... and alll those trick unnatural usually take more than 1 day IMO

For air tricks: probably a week to man up and actually do it, then after that I'd say like five or six attempts at it and I can usually throw it down more comfortably after that.

Rails: I'm not that great on rails, but probably three or four tries at something on a rail and I'm alright at it after that.

I always get something pretty close first try and i get it soon after. but for some reason, the second time i try it after i got it, i always fall. with every trick its weird

When i learn different rotations in the air, I always get really hyped on them and want to perfect them. For instance when i learned sw rodeos, i did about ten million, then when i decided to mellow out and keep it on axis, my muscle memory kicked in and now i cant spin an on-axis switch spin over 5. i just always dip. somewhat frustrating. Same thing with forward spins, anything over 7 i go rodeo or cork.

But the question you asked is pretty variable. Theres tricks that im just scared to do but when i finally sack up and try it, its like a first try stomp thing. others...like flatspins, i still cant do after literally hundreds of tries, I just go default rodeo out of muscle memory.

Depends on the trick. Back when I learned backflips, it took one shot. Laid out and stomped, just like the tramp. Cork 7s were very much more painful and not at all like the tramp, haha.

LI already knew how to throw 3's and switch 3's. Dropped in and decided to go for five. Landed and then thought it was easy so I went switch 5 and got it. Depends on how confident you are. 90% balls 10% knowing what to do.

I think to really have a trick DOWN DOWN, you need to be able to do it urban. Theres just so many factors. But I can barely do park rails.

I would say you have a jump trick down when you can pretty much do it with every grab you want.

And im not talkin about dubs or anything which are alot harder to throw with grabs other than mute tail or japan

this but it totally depends when i was learning mistys they took me forever.

but after i learned mistys, rodeos and lincolns came easy

rails for me are incredibly easy and super fun. it took me about 2 to 3 weeks to get all 8. once you get all 8 you can do any rail trick you want really

wow stupid phone... so if I'm 100% confident about trying a sw dub cork 12, but I have no idea how to do it... still should land it 9 times out of 10?

to get my first flip took me forever to add more degrees to my spins not very long rals like a half a day if i try hard

Rail tricks: forever, i suck at rails.

Air tricks: usually first try. I learned both 540's and 720's first try, and they were pretty clean. Haven't tried any inverted aerials yet, we'll see how those go.

skateboarder mag said if you go 100% at any trick(within your ability level) you will land it within 5 trys skateboarding is harder than skiing so i guess this should apply

I've been skiing for 16 years, this is my 8th year in park.

Took me 6 tries to stomp 2 onto and urban down rail yesterday. Never tried it before.

Last year stomped a cork 5 first try.

But for more tech tricks like kfeds (on rails, not boxes) it took me a while, and they are still very very inconsistent.

Everyone has their own pace, some tricks are easier / people are naturally able to learn some tricks quicker.

some people say they learned a trick when they can stomp it like 1 out of 15 tries. I guess you could say you learned it, but in my mind, I don't consider it "learned" until i can stomp it close to everytime.

So with that in mind, usually 1-2 weeks or even months.
