How long did it take you to reach your current skill level?

I know everybody progresses at different rates but I'm curious to see how far different skiers have come in different periods of time. Lmk how long you have been skiing park and what your best trick is/ tricks that you stomp every time you try them.

Surely it's just the duration of time that you have skied?

Not always, and that goes for any sport really. I bet there's kids that have only been skiing for a couple years that can throw dubs but there's probably also kids that have been on skis their whole life that can't do more than a 720 or something. I was just taking a general survey of everyone's experience.

31 seasons of about 175 days per. I think about 5000 days on the hill, and lots in the gym as well.I feel like i've gotten a little better every year, but who knows? I still enjoy every day, I guess the down turn in my abilities is coming, but not yet. prob soon though.

Got into moguls at 11. Started hanging out in parks at 12. Only did 360s. Didn't slide rails till I was 14. Then I turned 15 and started working on basic flips. Learned a lot of rail tricks at 16, followed by corks. Worked on style at 17. Now I'm 18 and Im working on dubs, hitting big jumps, and doing better rail tricks.

wat. both those examples deal with the entire duration that they were skiing

The point that I was trying to get across is this: No matter the duration/time you've skied, you will progress at a different rate than other skiers. For example, you have 2 skiers that have each been skiing park for 3 years. One can throw dubs and the other can't, which is a perfect example of people skiing the same duration but progressing faster or slower. Since it's different for everybody I just wanted to take a survey of sorts out of curiosity.

ive been skiing since i was 2 but didnt start park till i was 15. Now im 20 and i can 2 out both ways and spin 720s. Since the east coast didnt get much snow this season i spent my season learning to spin unnatural and switch unnatural which now i can 3 every way and im working on right 5 and sw right 5

Well I will start, I feel I have great progression due to being an old snowboarder I wasn't scared to huck myself at a rail.

Let's start the claim.

Front and blind 2s left foot

Front and blind 2s right foot smaller rails

Left 2 on if I feel good that day.

Front 4 out of tall rails

Working on blind 4s

Kfed any box

Ray fed flat boxes.

Right 3 left 3 left 5

Right left 180

Switch left 360

I feel this is a pretty Damn good bag of tricks for being only my second season of skiing 173 days this year and still going.

Really want to spin a 7 get right 5 blind 4 and more swaps on rails consistent. Also switch up my grabs while spinning. Finally putting out a decent season edit in a sport haha

I started skiing when I was 8, but didn't get into park until I was 13, and I am still 13. I can slide a rail, 360's, and do the andy parry slide.

Damn that's a good list for 2 years. I wish I lived in a place where I could ski 173 days a year lol I'm stuck on the east coast and I only get like 10. Now that I have my license it's gonna be more like 20-30 per year but still

all the reason I advocate hood for a season for everyone to do.

After four years of skiing about twice a week in the winter and maybe twice a month in the other seasons, I have progressed 0. It takes a long time to progress 0 but it can also be achieved without even owning skis.

the 2015/16 season was my first season skiing(never snowboarded either). im 21 and i can confidently throw 1's,3's, 7's, and even1080's, still working on my inverts but i can nail my front flips about 70% of the time and my back flips 50% of the time. Just learned hand drags and can hand drag 1's and 3's. working on learning my off axis tricks. my rail game is alright i suppose. i dont spend a lot of time in the park, only in the spring. My heart is set on the big mountain skiing, can confidently drop 20' and 30' cliffs while doing 3's and every now and then ill try a invert ( usually just end up on my face, i float them out to much and cant kick the habit). still pussy out when its above 30 feet though... so as a park skier id say im about average or a little under average for someone my age, but as a big mountain skier im average for someone my age. i estimate by the end of next season ill be above average for big mountain.

Started park skiing 2 and a half years ago, I can

Front 2, and 4

back 2, and 4

k-fed

backslide

misty (some of the time)

ray fed

swaps

Let me get this straight... Last year was your first year skiing but you can throw 7's and 10's even tho you "don't spend a lot of time in the park." This doesn't add up

yeah man, i just built booters out in the backcountry and had my friend tow me behind his sled and thats how i learned them... its not that hard, just a mental game for most people.

Between 7th and 12th grade I progressed a lot with 2 windells trips. I would've been as good as I am now when I was like 15 if I had been skiing at a better mountain. My home hill has a progression barrier where you just can't do anything new cause the features are small and basic

I skied all winters from about 3 - 15 on pencil skis. I think at about 13 years old I stopped really progressing and it was all about being exposed to new terrain, and I suppose trying new tricks. So I could keep up with anyone at that point in terms of all-mountain. BTW I don't consider "tricks" as skiing, but I do consider taking air and being stable in the air as skiing. The trick is just acrobatics.

Then I tried snowboarding and thought it was awkward. Probably would've been good at slalom but only got to do GS. I did get better at skiing as I grew stronger and knew my own body better... and started doing other sports, where the co-ordination comes back into skiing.

So 13 years old, and my core skiing coordination was lit. I virtually dry reached when I first saw a "park" ...I wanted nothing to do with rollerblading or gymnastics when I was on the mountain.

Obviously heartcarving is where it's at for me now, and it is much kinder on the knees and just feels better.. blah.. I'm giving myself about to about 2022 to really nail that chapter.
