How long did it take you to learn to ski switch?

I ran into a rainy couple of days at Sugarbush a few years back. The park was closed and there wasn't any fresh snow, so I spent the ENTIRE 2 days skiing switch. Started off easy and got better at it...Now I can carve ok, but can't take off great cause haven't gotten a lot of practice at it. Really, just to SKI switch just takes practice. Go and do it, don't ski switch for 2 turns and then turn around.
 
it took me about 2/3 of a season to get to the point of being just as good riding fakie down an average to steep groomer than to riding it regular. to actually be able to carve, control my speed without pizza turning, and to have full visibility looking over each shoulder. and i'm talking going REALLY fast here. like mach 495769
 
before i had twintips i had skis that had a pretty good back curve so on nice crusiers i would ski switch, then when i got twintips i was pretty good at it, but on jumps u need to commit to it and dont get scared
 
yeah, it took me about a season to really learn... but, then again, that season may have only been 15 or so days spread out over 3 - 4 months. i've got to get closer to the mountains.
 
i use to be able to you know just ski switch but not like i guess steezy or as comfortable but i'de say this year i got it down for down taking off jumps and skiing pretty much anything switch
 
at the beginning of every year before the parks are up and its all groomers me and my buds just race down groomers switch its great fun and good practice for doing switch jumps once the parks up
 
There is a good honest answer. I still dont believe that half the people in this thread who say it took them a week to learn. I don't believe it for a second. You can't honestly say you can take a whole run switch(like full run, all the way down a blue groomer/major ski traffic) without turning around after one week(which means a weekend) skiing switch there is no way.
 
^ thank you heath... it took me a few seasons before i really got comfortable at it.. but i was always good at taking off switch
 
sorry dude, when you ski in ny there is nothing better to do than practice sw riding. it didnt take me long
 
I guess my rant can rule out east coast skiers seeing how with no park wtf else are ya gonna do?
