How is the '00 Mitsubishi Evo VI?

I'm thinking about getting one as my first car. how reliable are they, how durable are they, are they good in snow, etc?
 
not sure, still diciding if ill even get a car or not.

i was going to go for an '04 sti but it looks like the evo would be heaper because its older. it also looks like it would be just as much fun. ill probably just decide upon the test drive mostly.

dude theyre like $5000-$7000 right? thats not that bad. they make that one special edition one which is like 20000 or something that you may be getting it confused with.
 
Where are you seeing these older Evo's? I just searched quickly and only found 1, and it was a $20,000 import right hand drive, limited edition with less than 6000 miles on it.
 
i dont know. around. but yeah, if its too hard to find ill have to get a VII with alot of miles.
 
Very good advice. Look for cars that have zero mods done to them, they will more than likely have less abuse done. Someone who upped the horsepower and handling characteristics did it for a reason, to drive hard. As far as finding Evo 8's with high mileage. Cars that are pushing 100K miles are just below $20K. Cheapest I've seen is a 2003 with 93K miles for $17K.
 
Yea... You might as well stop thinking about them right now. You can't afford one. Think more along the lines of an Imprezza, not even WRX. You won't find any decent WRXs or STi's or evos for under 12G.
 
also stis are acceptable. i was just leaning towards evos since because theyre older i assumed i could find the cheaper.
 
No need to be a dickhead, I read what you wrote the first time. However, when I was searching, I saw the one Evo 6 I mentioned earlier and the rest were Evo 8's. I was merely posting what I did find. Subaru's are more readily available and cheaper.

but from what i hear it's an amazing car, I'm planning on getting a VII in a few years when i can legally drive it in canada.
 
i doubt it. if i did it would probably be the other guys fault. not to be arrogant at all but i consider myself a very responsible driver.
 
everyone does. I'm by far the best driver out of my friends and kids I know well, and I hit a deer. Shit happens. Plus if you have a car easily capable of higher speeds, you'll be more tempted to do those speeds, if not, why would you buy one? Also, if you aren't a proficient driver with a fast car and a manual transmission, you might rev just a bit to high while shifting and moving, but that's kinda rarer than hitting deer. All in all, thinking of buying an STi or EVO as your first car at the price you're looking for is not only near impossible, it's irresponsible.
 
yeah but by the time i actually get a car ill have driven the ol' family saab for like 2 years.
 
Do you live in europe or australia? because if you don't you won't be able to get a 6 unless you are dropping ALOT of cash. 
 
yeah i dont. i found out the whole import problem recently and it sucks. i guess ill have to keep looking.

dude you must be looking at matchbox cars. no evo is going to be under 15k that doesn't have a rebuilt or salvage title. its hard to find a 2002 wrx for under 10k let alone a sti. i've been looking at wrx's for a while and most sti's from 2004 and up are atleast 22k. in 150 mile radius of my house in harrisburg pa. there are 5 evo's all over 20k.
