How is Stratton?

I've always gone to Okemo, Killington, or Stowe. This is the first year we're hitting stratton. Any opinions on the mountain, park, etc?

i personally hate the mountain but think the park is decent. they do have the park pass so there is no little kids around to cut you off. the jumps are pretty good but they usually dont have many good rails

park pass is free, u just have to take like a 10-15 min class thing and need someone 18+ to sign a form. And personally i think stratton is pretty sick. I think its the best mountain in lower VT besides killy. the parks are usually decent and even just the trails are good and fast. Plus last february we found these sick trees in sunbowl(ish) area. overall i think its a pretty good mountain

alright so thats actually a good thing. i actually ended up at stowe last year and didnt really like it, couldve been the conditions too though. hope that doesnt happen again

When stratton unveiled the new suntanner last year it was so money. best park they ever had in a few years. This year should be off the chain. ANd their are some incrdsdible woods, you just need to knwo where to look. ON powder days you can find some gnarly backcountry shit comparable to stowe or any other eat coast place. Again you hjust need to know where to look and who to look with.

long story short, Stratton kills.

well stowe is deffinatley better than stratton but one is in western vt and the other is not. they are not really all that close together so you shouldn't be comparing them. stratton is a sick mountain though. ive only skied there a couple of times but they have pretty good terrain and a pretty good park. their ski patrol is also really chill, they caught us in the woods on a closed trail at 4:30 and they didn't think twice about it or care at all. so overall it's a pretty dope place.

stratton isnt even close to stowe in terms of terrain or snowfall.

i just hope they have a good early season to get that park going.

the park is always off the change around late january febuary and the mtn is not bad pretty icy but watev its east coast. there r some knarly trees if u no were to go.

No, it doesn't.

Stratton sucks.

Gnarly Backcountry and Stratton are two completely different things. And never should be spoken together in the same sentance.

If you like muddy parking lots (up to your knees), no cell phone service and a bunch of gapers in one-piece suits, head to Stratton.

Sorry, but that's the truth.

The only killing that will happen is you wanting to kill yourself if you ever go to Stratton. I pray to God almighty above that I'll never, ever have to go back there. What a shithole.

wow dude im "sorry, but thats (NOT) the truth" the parking lots are only muddy if you go in the spring. If you go in february the lots are just frozen over with some ice, or just frozen dirt. In terms of terrain, the trees are pretty sick and theres even a hidden drop on the side of a trail that i forget the name of. Me and a couple of friends discovered our own trees on sunbowl side, theres was all powder and i didnt see one other track, which is very rare. This leads me too the only big negative about stratton, its REALLY crowded over feb. vacation

i only said frozen dirt cuz u said it was all muddy, and in terms of big drop offs, there arent many in south VT that are actually ON the mtn

new suntanner last year was so $$$ no one can even think otherwise. The VT/US open course was ill too until they plowed it. The terrain sucks in general though, its mad flat and theres a lot of ice. Woods are definitely sick when we get the very occasional storm though. Joeys obviously suck and there are way too many flatlanders but without them the park wouldn't be as baller. They just need to set up more rails and less boxes.

And thats the truth.

yea i don't know what heavywinter is talking about...if he's complaint is "muddy parking lots" thats pretty weak. have you been to okemo, magic, or pretty much anywhere else on the east? they ALL have muddy parking lots.

and yea the parks were dope last year. i skied there 98 days there last year and pretty much enjoyed all of them.

they got the potential to make somethin happen.. a bunch of rails that usually never get setup are layin around, jumps last yr were poppy but were pretty tiny

As of now the plan is to do Suntanner "very" similar to last season. It was good for all the right reasons and we definitely want to give everyone what they want. More rails are also in the works. The crew has been up at Mid Mtn workin on the new stuff for the past couple of weeks and welding away. As soon as I get my camera in we will have some pre-season rub off material for everyone to enjoy. Till then imagine away. Cheers,

i thought the paark at stratton last year was HUGE, althought i do ski mount snow a lot. they had pretty big features including a bus jib and like sick rollercoasters, and i thought the jumps were pretty big too. check out mt snow this year too its "supposed" to be good

i thought the park was fun. didnt ski the mountatin to much but from what i could see it was fun. deff go and check it out for yourself

Please make some bigger jumps and please set up the rails from old us opens PLEASSSSE

Stratton could be the place to ride park on the east coast if this happens

yea that could be sick...i ski there every weekend and it was so sick last year but if possible a pipe would be sick but idk bout the snow and stuff

also...if u guys set up a jib park like were the mini terrain park above burnside was like if u made that all rails and sick jibs that could be fun or set up an area like that

on their website it says they are putting up the all the rails from the US open and VTO this year. that includes like a stair case setup with like a 40 foot flat down box and 30 foot down rail. and a battleship box and like a 6 foot high 20 foot flat rail.

so hopefully the rails will be a lot better this year.

the parks are sikk there

but the best parks on the east are either mount snow, killy, or blue mountain

check out some of blue's new jibs

they got a jibmyd

suntanner last year was definately a step in the right direction

personally id like to see

more variety of  jumps, one or two 40-50 footers would be good

rails>boxes   leave most of the boxes in the beginner park

a pipe is not a necessity

from what i've heard around the village they are keeping suntanner somewhat similiar to last year but adding some more rails down the right side...those rails will be coming from the US open and VTO course last year so hopefully that will be dope

also we got a new 13' zaugg for the pipe on beeline

should be another sick year

does anyone have any info on whether they are blowing snow or not yet? would it be hike-able anytime soon? i know kids are hiking killington, stratton can't be tooooo far behind...?

no blowing as of yet...look for it to start after this last bit of warm weather blows through. hopefully on thursday night but no guarentees

they should set up their long flat rail, flat down rail from Young Guns, and a long down rail and the bus

there was the 30 foot flat box, down rail, flat rail, short box, up flat rail, and a rail that was unrideable for skiers... pretty fun day all and all

oh and you have to hike

were the down rail and flat rail somewhat long? is the flat rail the one that was in suntanner last year? right after the line of jumps and before the rainbow box? why do you have to hike? arent they on the trail underneath the lift?
