Maybe he was just born into a shit ton of money and instead of blowing it all on worthless shit, he put it to good use and it just grew and now he's loaded..
Or he just works a fucking lot.
...Not to mention that he is the skiier with the highest salary of all time. I had heard a stat of $3,000,000/year from a reliable source, but here is the first thing I found online. Doesn't look that reliable, but its a decent answer to OP's question:
In Sweden skiing is much more widespread a sport than it is in North America, and part of everyday culture like Football or Baseball is here, for example. So he's accordingly famous over there, and makes accordingly huge bank. Snowsports = serious business in Europe. I remember being surprised as fuck waaay back when I learned that Daniel Franck (boarder) drove a Porsche 911 Turbo and all he did was a few pipe contests a year and even fewer park contests.
Reasons?
*Family money*He's so goddam marketable. Clean, good looking, blonde hair blue eyed charming European bloke.*He works his FUCKING ASS OFF*Sponsors*Pro model endorsements (skis/helmets/goggles etc)*Competition wins (there's been a lot)*Sponsors*Family money (theres a lot from what I've heard)*Sponsors*He's a racer and in the olympic team (lot more money than newschool skiing)*Investments*JOSS/JOI*Sponsors*Ski movie appearances (pretty small contributor)
I think your only valid reasons that could actually equate to a hansom amount of money are:-family money-he works his fucking ass off
Everything else relates back to skiing, and even if it is the racing world, the skiing industry just simply is not a place where people make the kind of money to live his lifestyle. I'm going to have to say he was probably born into the money.
He is a super star in Scandi land. I was talking to some finish kids in ireland this summer, they didn't ski but i mentioned Jon Olson and they immediately knew who he was. Apparently he had some bad press in the past couple of years in sweden. When you are that well known you are going to recieve lots of endorsements. He is international star, but not on the level of Lance Armstrong.
not really. Jon's mom popped out to really good athletes, both competing on an olympic level. In a few of his video blogs he was in his parents house that he grew up in. It wasn't anything huge. Unless that was there ski house which i doubt. Jone worked his ass of. He has a fucking bank and the largest cellular carrier in sweden sponsoring him
HOGIS - I never said Newschool skiing, guy, I said skiing and snowsports in general, and all I said was that they're more mainstream there than in the US/Canada.
