How important is your final high school transcript?

I got accepted into the U and have maintained a 3.4 gap throughout high school. I may be getting a d this semester in ap lit due to the fact my teacher hates me for my high amount of tardies and gave me a 68 on our final paper. I'll be getting as or bs in my 2 other classes. Will this d on my final transcript affect my acceptance to the U at all, or is it not that big of a deal?

The reason you got a D has nothing to do with your teacher "hating you." I will almost guarantee it's because you're a fucking lazy scumbag who either failed tests, or didn't turn in assignments.

i got a d my last term of senior year and i still got into st lawrence (pretty decent school). also a friend of mine got kicked out a month before he graduated and still was accepted to wesleyan (on par with ivy leagues). but hes a whole different level of too fucking smart so thats was unusual.

i would guess its because of his high numbers of tardies and receiving a 68 on the final paper. reading skills, i has them.

but to the OP, if you talk to your teacher and say that his / her class is the only blemish on your report card and you are willing to do make up work to boost your grade, he will probably give you an opportunity.

Tardies shouldn't count toward the final grade and, like I said, he probably failed his exams/didn't turn in assignments. a 68% on one paper isn't going to fucking bomb out your grade to a D. The kid's a deadbeat shithead. It's practically impossible to get lower than a B in any class in high school. Zomg lolz reading skilzzz. u haz dem? Grow the fuck up and learn how to type out a proper sentence, you stupid piece of shit.

its practically impossible to get lower than a b? are you kidding me right now? youre trying so hard to make yourself sound absolutely perfect that its painful to read.

and yeah go ahead and rip apart my sarcasm, thats gonna be really effective at making me feel dumber than you.

Give me a fucking break, kid. I don't have to rip apart shit to prove you are dumber than me, and I certainly don't have to TRY to be perfect. We both know that I am. Fuck, everyone who read this thread already knows it too.

honestly I hate to say it but I have to agree. You need to be ready to step your shit up once you get to college because D level work in high school leads to dropping out of college, even if it is one class. Looking back on high school, if I put a 10th of the work I put into college I would have aced every class.. With that said, no it will not effect your acceptance, but be ready to step it up or its gonna be a long ride

This is the only thing I can agree with you on in this thread. I have failed a class and usually get 1 D a year. I am no scholar thats for damn sure.

But I used to use the" oh the teacher hates me thats why I got a bad grade" excuse all the time. You need to sack up and just tell yourself "I am a lazy piece of shit and maybe if I did my work I wouldn't get a bad grade." Worked for me, now I just blame myself, I still dont get the best grades but I am not looking for excuses for it. It's because I am a lazy piece of shit and while I am sitting in class I am most likely thinking about skiing if its winter, or riding if its summer. hell sometimes both at the same time! Plus mobile ns does not help at all either.

when you say "the U" you are referring to miami right? and not mistakenly calling utah the U. i hope you're referring to miami because that would be sick. i have a feeling you're not.

a standard state university probably won't freak out too much if your grades slack off, but schools will be notified if your gpa goes from 3.4 to 1.9 and it'll probably cause problems

maybe stop being a lazy piece of shit and actually go to your class. wait no, nevermind, you should be allowed to skip and drive around in your impreza smoking weed and going to taco bell, i'm sure it's just your teacher being an asshole

i'm gonna have to side with AR6 on this one

YOU WERE LATE TO CLASS MULTIPLE TIMES, you cannot blame the professor for giving you a bad grade as a result of something that you can DIRECTLY control.

just show up to fucking classes on time, and straight up give a fuck about school. it's your last term of your last year of highschool, it's not that difficult... at all

HAHAHAHAHA fucking classic Ar6.
Anyway OP you'll be fine, however take responsibility for your own fucking actions. You are about to be in college and you still blame teachers on your poor grades? Like really dude? Mature the fuck up and be happy the teacher cares about you at least a little because once you get to Uni and you are in a lecture of 300 kids your prof won't even know your face so your grade will be 100% reliant on you and how well you do.
Oh and no one should get less than a fucking B in any high school course unless you have a legitimate learning disability.

scumbag, not necessarily

lazy, most likely. its senior spring, he probably thought "oh, i can fuck around and it wont matter" and didn't worry about making it to classes on time or getting decent grades.

when your senior spring grade is much lower than your previous grades, that just screams laziness to me. you don't have to be super super hard working in classes during senior spring, just care a little to maintain b range grades at least.

I didn't have that great of a HS transcript. Luckily, my extracurriculars/college essay/connections at the university were enough to get me into a great college.

(I owned my own online website dyeing stringing lax heads across the Midwest for HS and DII/DI athletes). Something like that you can just milk the shit out of it to employers and stuff and they just eat it up.

Ar6 is a dumb shit. I am in the hardest ap lit class at my high school and my teacher runs a very tight ship. Me being late to class= him getting pissed off and marking me down on assignments. I do the work correctly, or at least b level, and he shits on me because he detests me due to my tardies. I do not own an impreza, nor have I skipped class to smoke ar6. Maybe check your crystal ball on that one again fuckhead.

How are you late for class? It is HS... All you have to to do is walk across your school and go inside. You're schedule is laid out for you so that you are not late. Wait till you get to college where you dont have 5 classes back to back and you work and your schedule varies every single day. Good luck getting to class if you can barely walk across school during a 5 minute period to get to class on time.

Its not his fault you are late. He is the teacher, he can be a dick if punctuality is important to him. Show up on time, get better grades? That seems fairly simple.

Why would you schedule classes so it will be near impossible to get to one from another in time?

Just came here to say I was graded down based on tardies in HS (teachers made their own policies), so it's not that far fatched. If you're in AP Lit, then you must be fairly bright. Try talking to the teacher and working out something to offset those tardies? My teachers allowed me to do some extra work to get my grade back up to a 4.0.

Sometimes you dont have a choice. I had classes where I'd be there for 2 hours 9AM-11. Go to work at Noon. Class at 6.

Sometimes I couldnt get the class I needed at the right times so you just have to take it and hope you make it to them. And on a college campus most classes have 15 mins between them.. And you can skate.

No he probably did the work but some teachers just are assholes and give bad grades out like nothing, i had a class junior year where our teacher gave every guy in the class a D or they failed.

So you're talking about compulsory classes placed badly, or also the fact that you couldn't get the class you wanted? In either case, I feel ya. But I know some overzealous types who almost purposefully stuff their schedules with nigh-impossible scenarios, I don't understand that.

It's not. No one looks at anything besides your GPA. If you go to college, no one will even care about your high school grades any more when you're done.

Nah I was not trying to do that. I had alot of adjunct professors who worked all day and taught at night.. Then teachers who only taught in the morning, stuck with those classes because they were major required. But who cares now. No more classes since last year. Graduated 1 year ago today!
