How I Feel About Video Games

whoops...tell that to Tom Taylor...aka TSquared.

"He was signed to a US$250,000 contract by Major League Gaming (MLG)[2], and earns between $120,000 and $150,000 each year in prize money and endorsement deals."

umm they teach me things...

like i learned how to bind keys and commands in CSS

and make scripts and hot keys in WoW...

and how to create skins, models, and level development, for UT3, and CSS

this is all PC though

thanks to halo and cod i know where people are, it made me a

smarter and more aware person in general. i can map out places

and take a well estimated guess as to where the people are

just by learning human behavior in general. i can locate

where sounds are coming from quicker and react quicker. there

is strategy in games that can make you a better person in

school. it is proven. the smarter you are the better you are

at video games. video games are a good time waster, but they

do make you smarter. go play starcraft, its a well thought

out game that actually takes thinking power.

I didnt bother reading thru the entire thread, but i think a well crafted video game should be seen and experienced as like a work of art.

i agree with you on that one. there is so much lines of code, time, and brainpower spent developing a game it is ridiculous.

If I play more than one or two games of FIFA I feel like I just sent my life down the drain. It is a waste of time, but fun for a half hour or so.

Havent been playing games much these last couple years because of school, but once I get out in however many years expect me to be back in full swing. For me video games are more fun than pretty much anything but skiing~

Uhmm, giving hats to girls? Thats pussy shit, we give girls alcohol and thats about the only gift we them from where i come from.

And of course i wouldnt skip out on a party for video games, nobody does. But video games are the shit at like 2 in the morning or when its rainin so u cant go skate, or when there is no snow. Video Games are good as long as you dont play them every day.

fifa is hard to count though, because those 1 or 2 games can so easily become 3 to 8 games, and slowly it builds up to 1-2 seasons of 60+ games.

that is the only game that i will openly admit i have wasted too much time on.

lebron-james.jpg

meet Lebron James. hes 21 as well. hes in video games.

and he make more money than TSquared,

by playing sports, not video games.

i totaly agree. i waste so much fucking time on my xbox, its fun but i should be doing homework. and i have (once) skipped going to a friends house because i was killing it in COD5, but really i would have just gotten high which is not my fav thing to do, so according to my parents xbox > drugs

Lebron James owns a PSP and has called it his favourite thing to bring with him while traveling.

thats bullshit, because i know how to do all that stuff, probably better than you. as long as your not playing on a daily basis its all good. and i didnt just contradict myself because i play on a daily basis cause im addicting so its bad.

yeah fifa is too addicting. you can't just play one game, you gotta do at least two to be satisfied. it never gets boring either.

So, while we are on the topic I'm getting one of those new DSi's on Sunday. Whoo!

I'm gonna use it to take pictures, get girls and pretty much be rad every day

i just spend 2 hours playing skate 2. kind of a waste, but its raining outside, so i really have nothing better to do. Its sunny now, so I will accept your advice and go longboarding.

PEACE!

I would definitely rather go to a party than play video games. But, a nice Headquarters match on Cod4 or killing Nazi zombies, is one of the things that I enjoy the most.

im pretty sure not alot of people play video games all day too1 hour isnt going to hurt anyone

Dude you're on a fucking internet forum. You waste time on NS and I doubt you get anything productive out of it. I don't even like video games but nothings wrong with enjoying a little free time.

haha but that is not my point at all...the whole point of this thread is "video games are a waste of time"....TSquared found out away to make a half million in one year by playing a video game...pretty impressive if you ask me...TSquared is to the video game world as Lebron James is to basketball.

Too many video games is definately terrible... in m freshman and sophmore years of high school i would game all day, and it took away from my life, and i cant really say i gained anything from it, even though i spent 3-4 hours a day playing video games... if you can play in moderation though, its a lot better... over the past 3 months, i've played an hour a day on averege and made 1,500 through video games, and it didnt take away from the rest of my life (sports, school, girl s etc at all)... not to mention 17 dollars an hour on averege playing video games isnt bad ;)

your second sentence answers your own question.
and as stupid as this sounds, i swear i shaved 10 strokes off my golf game between this year and last thanks to tiger woods 09 on ps3.
video games are ill still.losing your social life because to video games is whack still.

hahahah

I play videos games on weekend nights when I get home til like 4 because I spend the rest of my week on ns......yes I have friends and a girl that I hang out with video games dont take over my life

theyre fun, but i agree, there is better stuff you could do with your time.

+ k for the good argument lol

before i got an xbox i had a 90 average at a fancy ass prep school, i got the xbox, got addicted to cod4, my average went down to an 85. my xbox broke so i didn't have one for 3 weeks, during that period i calculated my average from all work i'd done in that span to be 92. got the xbox back, average went down again, so i boxed up the xbox and it's sitting in my closet now away from temptationi may not have much self control but i see a direct correlation between playing cod4 and getting worse gradesi also noticed it in AP studio art, my focus was exponentially better when i didn't have my xbox, my work was higher quality, i didn't lose focus quickly, and i produced some damn fine artwork. maybe video games help with reflexes and hand eye coordination and i'm definitely not denying that but they greatly impacted my school performancei plan on only playing video games either with friends or on vacations or during summer or something. i tried changing parts of my life to see what was causing my slump in school and i directly narrowed it down to video games. i wasn't even playing a shit load but it was enough to completely distract me
