How I Feel About Video Games

does anyone else agree with me, that video games are a waste of time.

i mean yeah, they are a way to pass time, but you could honestly be doing something so much more productive and fun.

video games will not get you anywhere and they wont do anything for you.

honestly, what do you get out of video games, besides sitting on your ass all day and staring at the tv and missing out on awesome things that happen outside your house.

instead of video games

go hang out with your friends, go to a party, learn to crochet, go bike riding or long boarding, do something other than video games.

 
but dude theyre soooooo much fun. why be bored learning to crochet when you could be having fun playing video games? and plus if you do it long enough you could do it for a living

but to the OP... youre making a weird argument. sure, if you play video games, all the time, instead of doing other stuff, thats a bad thing. but i highly doubt you are any more productive than someone who plays video games. and im sure you do an equal amount of nothing every day. maybe you watch tv instead or something
 
k yeah. i have played skate 2. and i did play online on COD4. but wouldnt you rather go to a party or something and increase your chances of hooking up with a girl or crochet a hat for a girl and get some bonus points. ???
 
Untill the age of like maybe 14 or 15 video games were my entire life. Now I'm 20 and I'll buy a new game, play it for a week, then get bored of it. I really only like playing guitar hero when I'm drunk, and the other day I beat GOW2 on extreme mode (which took fucking hours). But yeah, I don't know, video games don't do it for me like they used to. The last one I played a lot was COD4 and that was a while ago now.
 
video games decreased my grades, caused my focus to diminish in art, put me in a bad mood after playing, and pretty much fucked me over
they're pretty fun to play but i agree with you, there are better things to do
 
obvioulsy you dont like getting a little something more with the girls. everytime i made a hat for a girl. she would always come up to me and give me a hug or what ever and then brag to her friends who made the hat and they would ask for a hat too. and be friends with you even more.

ps crocheting hats is a good conversation starter with the ladies. girls always ask me where i get or who made my hat.

But seriously, ive done four of the things you listed in one day. Maybe it is you who needs to expand their horizons and worry about yo self and not others. CoD4=love. you cant spend all fucking day worshipping trees, i believe there is a time and place for everything.. And i love my friends but lawd knows i need a break from them every now and then. yeah you can say that. but video games actually improve your coordination and puzzle solving skills. plus if all we did was work all day and do something productive, we'd wanna die. playing keeps us happy and lets our mind wander.

You completely missed my point. and playing video games with friends over xbox live is different than them coming to your house and eating all of your food. So no, i did not contradict myself. BTW it doesnt take hats to get bitches. just sayin. And parties WOOOWWWWWW. you cant party from the time you wake up till the time you sleep (ok you could. but your health would be at risk.) you gotta mix it up. Sorry if i see crocheting as pointless. but i didnt make a thread about it.

 
i mean i do get a little something more with the girls, and i dont crochet them free hats thats just stupid. if they want a hat they can buy it and still go rave to their friends and then they come asking to buy some. and be friends with you even more, sounds to me like youre a pushover and giving them free shit throws you in the friendzone.
 
ah. but i just got home from a bike ride to downtown, to the verizon store, making reservations at a couple restrauants, and getting a couple groceries at smiths. i think thats being pretty lazy. i basically biked all around town tonight.

to the OP: sorry to be the one to tell you, but we all agree. you're fucking whipped.
i play video games on weekends only, and spend lots of time on NS and facebook, lolzzzz. but, it's all about spending your time wisely. If i have 5 hours, i can go on NS for an hour, and do my homework next, and then spend the rest of my time on NS or doing other stuff.
now, everybody will agree here. organizing your time = good grades
 
a buddy of mine has this idea. ( i don't hate games, prob spend 4-6 hours /per week. def a casual gamer)

he thinks that he should stop playing video games and doing crazy drugs until his is an old wrinkled man. His logic is, by the time that happens, there are going to be fucking awesome video game/technology, and even crazier drugs by then. When you're old and can't move much what better things could you do?

obviously this sparked much debate about if a senior citizen could handle such intense gaming and drugs.

we figure by then there will be drugs for being old.
 
Haha, Is getting a little something something with girls getting hugs? Just become friends with girls and you get that, you dont need to pay them off with hats.

That being said, its very debatable that girls are a bigger waste of time than video games, seeing as relationships can end and cause heartbreak (emo), where games will always love you

Dont worry, i dont think you party. Im just sayin. everyone needs some down time whether it be video games or making hats. by mixing it up i just meant balancing activity with relaxing. i just dont really give a fuck and i dont see why you do.
 
Playing video games all day is a waste of time. Same with posting on the internet. And yet, here we all are. Everything is alright in moderation.

And plus, not everyone has to have the same hobbies as you. Some people crochet a hat to relax, other people turn to mindless entertainment such as movies, TV and video games. To each their own.
 
i mean i hate video games. i never play them at all but no need for so much hate. i understand why people play them.... i just think they're awfully boring and i'm terrible.

....and yes i've played halo and COD and Madden and whatever else. my roommates have them all so please save the responses. i'm just not into it.

And golf? I love it when people use that as an example for them being "active". There's a reason it's probably the most popular sport among retirees. Not to mention there are some people who are in legitimately bad shape at the professional level in golf.
 
OP, it sounds like the only way girls talk to you is if you crochet hats and give them to them for free.

i think anyone who dislikes video games claiming they are a waste of time should be forever banned from watching TV or movies. Many video games are essentially interactive movies. Come on, take GTA4 and tell me that wouldn't have made a pretty good movie!

I agree that too much is bad, like saying more than an hour or two a day, but it's the same with everything. Moderation is key

and sometimes there's just nothing else to do. There aren't parties and shit nightly, sometimes they just occupy you for a bit
 
i can honestly say i agree with the thread starter. haven't owned a videogame system since 02. dabbled with counterstrike on the pc for a bit in 04/05, but since it was on the PC it was more about hardware compatibility and whatnot so it was a bit productive. got bored and stopped. and honestly if i still played videogames, i probably wouldn't have took the time to learn other things like prep and paint things, or read or write half as much/well, use an SLR, drive manual, ski, etc. not to mention things like parying more and meeting new people. so yeah. videogames are a waste of time. now i just have NS and facebook to do that.
