How hard is it for girls to get sponsored?

3's and you'll be golden.....just kidding. some sponsors are looking for all around skiers. park helps. but big mountain is like icing on the cake

Can't be too hard... Just go out there and make yourself known. If you're good enough, sponsorship will follow.

go big. if you can throw tricks down on 50+ foot kickers that'll really set you apart from other girls

why would you stay in the midwest if you could move out west anyways...

no, but seriously. as long as you're a well-rounded skier who will bring something to the company

i've never been interested in sponsorship, but my money's running out and i need skis ha
someone told me i'm good enough, but my rail runs are still pretty shitty

For any sponsorship you're attitude and personality is going to play a large factor in you getting hooked up. Just because you rip doesn't mean you deserve to get sponsored. Keep skiing and progressing and start talking to local shops. Enter contests and show companies that you're capable of being an asset to them.

youre worrying about the wrong things. and yes its super easy for a girl to get sponsored are you kidding me look at what girl pros do and look at male pro tricks...if you don't have dubs or a ridiculously different style you will not get sponsored if you are a dude, whereas girls who can barely sw 7 can get hooked up.
with that said, there are some sick girls out there like kaya turski who kill it. she has some dope style!

like i said earlier, youre worrying about the wrong things. go shred and have the best time possible.

you could get a job... jk (not really haha) but the main factor in getting sponsored is not technically how good you are, but how well you can promote that company. being good is what starts it, but if you have other good qualities outside of ski talent that will help a lot also. and if you think that you might be able to get sponsored, make an edit with all your best stuff and send it to a company you'd like to ride for and see what they say. if they say no, then just keep working or look some where else.

i do already work at the closest resort haha and people are poor in college even without being ski addicts
what do you mean by other qualities?

you obviously havent looked at my pictures :]
and i knooww i should know this already, but i've been having way too much fun

i know its true, i'm broke too. i just kinda realized like a week ago that i'm not gonna be able to buy new skis this year unless i give up eating for like a month or sell of all my shit. but i digress.

and as for other stuff its just all about how well you can promote the company you ride for. i can't really tell you exactly what that is because i'm not sponsored (not even close haha) i guess i would say its kinda like the qualities of a good sales(wo)man. if you can make a good impression on the reps in person when you talk to them, that will help a lot, in addition to the skiing.

also, winning comps is a good way to get sponsored. you can win sponsorship in some comps, but if you can win or podium at your home mountain, you've got a good shot at getting something.

Holy Abs!

If you're looking into a sponsorship, you should start by making a portfolio. Describe your skiing, why you love it, show how you can be a representative of the company, what you can do for them. Be positive.

Go out there and talk to reps, shop owners, more sponsorships can help build self confidence, which in turn, will boost your experience.

I didn't read much of this thread, sorry

hahahaha this. i love the comments, everyone is just amazed by how ripped your abs are.

be honest, were you flexing?

more like switch 360. just watch Kristi Leskinen hahaha. even todays PRO females would struggle to switch 7 apart from the top few.

Sad story, I was at COC this summer, and Kristi dropped by for a day. For most of the day, she was trying to grab switch 180s on a twenty foot jump. It was really sad more than anything. She is fiiiiine though.

I (along with the rest of the blue population) immediately looked at your pics!

I have no idea about getting spanced in the midwest, but just move to a proper mountain regardless, much more fun and surely easier to get hooked up with gear.

if you consider yourself good enough, you should make a portfolio of yourself as said earlier, and show it to some local ski shops, theres a good chances you could atleast get something off when you buy their equipment and promote it to the other skiiers.

This happend to me when i got 5th in a sk8 comp, the local shop gave me a card which gave me 30% off their products, its not free stuff but it still helps, and is a start to something. Also a good hint is to get to know the people who might be the possible sponsors

well, if you can consistently land 5's and slide rails all the way to the end, you are probably already a womens x-games slopestyle gold medal winner.

if you are attractive you can just sleep your way to the top, you wont even have to know how to 180.

i ski in NH and i have a friend that is sponsored by salomon. She can land like 5s and sick 7's she is pretty good and rails. and she can frontflip

Obviously skiing ability plays a part in it, but the ability to market yourself is big too. Companies want someone that is going to do a good job marketing their products. Being well spoken helps too. Being in the Midwest might not hurt either because some companies don't have a lot of presence here.

if youre one of or the only girl really tricking over the "big" jump, you'll get noticed. i know of some kids that have ski sponsorships that really don't deserve it. so get out there honey learn some new shit and always have a good attitude. you can do it!!

that's one of the most ignorant things I've ever heard. Kaya fucking kills it, and just because your bitch ass is jealous that a girl is better than you doesn't give you any right to bash her.

Being attractive doesn't get you everywhere. Just free alcohol and food. Which is pretty sweet, but still. If your attractive and can't do anything, people hate.

i like the enthusiasm! "big jumps" are my favorite haha and im not going to "sleep my way to the top". that's just embarrassing. i'll keep working on my tricks and going to comps. i'm only 19, i still have time

Most sponsors are from conections but im sure there are some demos where you can impress the guys there and get sponsored
