How fucked is my ski?

Took a pretty bad core/edge shot back around Presidents day either at Stratton or Killington i'm not sure, but that doesn't matter. I got it fixed at this place called Alpine Haus in CT and I went back out probably a week after to Mt. Snow and stayed in the park pretty much all day and then i got back and the same exact shot was popped out again.

I didn't grab a pic the first time it happened, but this pic is of it after the second time it opened up the same exact way.

Just want to know if it's honestly worth getting fixed again now since I live in RI for school so i haven't been home in CT in probably almost a month since it was fixed so i feel like it's too late to bring it back. My skis are also the 2010 volkl bridge so they are pretty beat but i love them.

Not at all. Chances are when the first fix happened they used P-Tex. This can pop out especially on an edge. You need to get the spot base welded. Its a harder base material and will hold the spot better. Nothing abnormal.
 
The edge has teath which sit under the base. The op has lost some of the base next to the edge exposing the teath underneath.

And yeah a base weld or maybe if you can find some metal edge grip that could work.
 
It's exposed all the way through, if i took a pic of it up to sunlight it would shine right through lol but I will mention the base weld to the next shop I go to.

Can i still ski with it? I did for the rest of the day when i noticed it. This is my right ski so I was riding with the hole on the inside edge normally so it would be engaged in turns (which isn't what i want with something like this), so i just switched it to my left foot so it wasn't the engaging edge.

I've had worse on my other ski where the edge underneath the binding was completely bent out and the same shop was able to fix it perfectly first try, so i feel like i should just go back and ask them to put their best tech on it.
 
I have had some seriously gnarly core shots that I thought would end the skis, but I brought them in to a shop anyway and he said its possible only with edge grip. ask for edge grip and say no if they try to use ptex because that doesnt actually make a strong bond to the other material on the ski.
 
The only thing i would worry about is water getting under your base and freezing. Just dont leave them in your car overnight after skiing if the wood is exposed. And get that base welded asap
 
This shouldn't affect your skiing at all? The problem is at the tip(tail) of the ski...

Definitely look into getting it fixed to prevent water damage, expanding and possibly ripping out the edge. But even so, the edge of my ski has been pushing out on the tip for a solid 3 years now. I would say it's not that big of a deal considering it's on the end of the ski...
 
I never said it affected my skiing, I'm wondering if it's even worth fixing since i already got it fixed once and it happened again literally right after, and it's also a 4 year old ski so it's pretty beat.
 
If you don't care about the skis don't bother. But that edge will catch and rip out and the core will get wet. So if you don't fix it they will get much worse. Should be a simple fix though just done wrong the first time.
 
if you dont care about getting it fixed, i would at least have that section of edge removed so it doesnt catch and tear out more, then make sure there is no core exposed. maybe coat the exposed places in epoxy
 
You could probably fix it yourself pretty cheap. Put some masking tape on the edge and pour JB weld in til it pools up. Let it harden then take he tape off and file it so it's smooth with your base! I just did this the other day to one of my skis.
 
fill it half with epoxy then try melt a ptex candle to fill the other half of it, that's what i would do ptex will probably fall out then i would just fill the rest with epoxy but i am NO expert

Real fix: Empiecement (sorry dont know the english word, Basically a base patch)

But your ski is not fucked at all aslong as you make sure the core is sealed you're fine.
 
if you plan on getting new skis next year i would just put a layer of epoxy over it so water dosent make it worse and just ride it out till next year
