How fast have you skied?

I just got gps goggles on sale and they are kind of fun for early season. I know my tracks has been around for a while. So for those of you that have used anything to verify speed what sort of heat have you thrown down. Not much open at copper yet but today I got 50.

Last year I hit 50 mph (on the phone app so not sure about the accuracy) straight-lining the steepest trail at my mountain, which is in PA. Bindings pre-released from the chatter when I was trying to slow down and I slid like 150 feet on my hip. Ended up being fine somehow but since then I have tightened my bindings quite a bit and have been sketched to try hitting max speed.

From what I can tell you took the same image and edited the speed, because everything else is the same.

Unless im being dense and the app is like that for everyone, since I don't use it.

As far as I know my fastest speed is 62 mph. I downloaded that snocru app and just straight up bombed the steepest groomer on the mountain

That app is really unreliable. We tested it last winter going through a speed trap set up for downhill training, and even though our speed was pretty consistent around 60mph the app said anywhere from 45 - 90 mph. We even went side by side, speed trap said 60 mph and our phones was 15 mph apart.

Screenshot from the best day of skiing of my life. Went 57ish on my 112th run of the day.

Have raced it twice only finished once haha first year i got up to 80 but binding broke an i found out what snows like at 80mph

Even though we got hate and only a few believed us. This is the result we got.

No one believes you for a reason . Olympic downhill skiers don't even go that fast in perfect conditions with all the best technology and the skill to go with it. There's no way a 140 lb person in baggy freeski outerwear with 170 twin tips that probably haven't been waxed in the last 10 ski days who has minimal downhill skiing skill and knowledge is going to go faster then them.

yeah sorry guys but those apps arent reliable at all, and a dude in baggy gear on park skis i think will have a hard time breaking mid 60s tops

i would know, because i ski faster than all of you combined

72, it was clocked with a speed gun. Gotta love Super-G training. It was scary as shit.

I have a hard time believing anyone can get up to 55+ on non-race skis that are shorter than 190 (even non-race skis north of 190 make me doubtful), full attire (not a speed suit), and on an open public hill. Hitting that speed required 205s, a speed suit, a very aero tuck, a closed hill, and absolutely zero turning at the steepest part.

Anyone who claims they're hitting 75+ and aren't racing is full of it, the average FIS DH speed is somewhere between 85-90, as the fastest is just north of 100mph.

Fact that saga gear has never seen speeds near 70mph haha an i had a school teacher that was into the speed skiing with the goofy suits his Best was 100 plus dudes nuts no need to go that fast haha

Agreed, my top is 71 and that was with 210 super g's on tucking down a steep ass groomer with nobody on it, and it was terrifying. It's funny when people actually think they went 85 with park skis on.

Once you get around 70-75 you have to be really really careful when you pull up from your tuck if you do it quickly you can go flying if not careful. Befriended speed skiiers at the bar and took a shot at it in the Alps.

So I took one lap on a speed skiing course in the alps with skis I am comfortable ripping at very high speeds on but not speed skis. Made sure to pizza at the start more than anyone else doing it. Could have cracked something 80-90 with serious balls I don't have. Likely hit 70 but doubt it was higher.

Wouldn't do it again on those skis turned down another lap. Would love a shot at it on some 210s that I was at all comfortable on.

And today it was rainy at Stowe there was maybe 5 people total on the hill so I seriously opened it up and let it rip and these skis held up as good as anything I could want on groomers I've been planning on buying race skis but my good old Palmers held up ripping Stowe top to bottom really really fast actually forgot how good they are at speed. But as you say non race skis aren't going over 55 on trails at resorts period.

70 but no proof. I straight lined down Thunderbird up at Mt Bachelor and damn that shit was scary. Line SFBs were chattery as fuck...
