How does obama get away with this shit

obviously

I honestly don't know a thing about economics so i'm not trying to prove you wrong, i'm hopign you know what you're talkiing about and asking you for some explination that i can take with credibility:

with that said,

i didn't say that the unemployment rate is high, i said it was increasing, which is a bit different. I think i'd like to do some searching to see wheather or not the jobs that people have actually provide sufficent wages: those who are 'employed' may still not be earnign enough money or having sufficent coverage of benifits and so unemployment figures could be misleading

With our dollar value dropping so fast its tough for me to believe that it could be considered a good thing (i guess i'm skeptical that it will stop dropping) I mean the Canadian dollar is equal or worth more than the USD these days, (no offense canada) but that is scarry, and really shitty when you come back from abroad...

As for exportation, what decent products does America make? Almost everything i can think of is made with higher quality, for cheaper, in Asia...

My main concern is that GPD doesn't directly relate to quality of living, China having the second largest GDP behind the US doesn't have anywhere near the same quality of living spread across its population.

America's number one trade partner is Canada. http://internationaltrade.suite101.com/article.cfm/america_s_trade_buddies I am not sure where you live, so you might not notice it as much but I live in central Montana about 2 hours from the Canadien border. When the US dollar was stronger than the Canadian dollar, you hardly saw Canadians here shopping but lots of us Americans would go to Canada to buy items such as car parts or to recreate, ski, etc... Now that our currencies are relatively worth the same there are tons of Canadians shopping down here. I recently saw a Canadian pickup truck pulling a flatbed trailer pull out of a tire store with 2 pallets of tires on his trailer. Is this good for our economy? You bet it is. That was a micro example now more of a macro example; The US still produces alot of pharmacutecals, chemicals, steel, timber, automobiles, etc... As our dollar falls and these goods get cheaper you will see countries buying more of these goods. Future traders will buy commodities.
You can't compare 2 countries GDPs remember that GDP is equal to consumption + government spending + gross investment + net exports. China's GDP is probably so high because of all the cheap shit they export and the high amnounts of consumer and government spending pushing their country through their own "industrial revolution"

Cheers! Time will tell how life in America will endure....

(the only thing i'll disagree with is that we make quality cars-- they're absolute rubbish)

I think within the last 5-10 years American car companies have made a turn for the good, and alot of foreign companies have factories here to

Toyota is the best 'American made' car from what i've heard/seen. Currently on spring break renting a Chevy impala with less than 1800 miles on it, and the engine light has come on, the seat squeaks and the interior is just shit. My car, a dodge, blew its motor.

from what i understand (ironically) no one but rich japanese politicians want to drive American cars.

Things will change, just watch as fuel prices increase and GM continues to develop it's electric car that can go 65 miles on electricity then get 160 mpg after that, check the newest popular science mag for details.

not really relevant but,

i have a 92 ford taurus and it has 260,000 miles on it. honestly it seems like cars are a crap shoot when it comes to problems

Saturn already HAD an electric car, and GM killed it. There were people lined up to buy it, pay $1,00,000 for it, but GM said fuck the popular deamnd and crushed them all. American car companies are full of shit.

(being a bit cynical) GM won't sell an electric car until the can figure out some way to make it break so they can charge you for the matinence. Think about how much money they lose with an electric car, no oil filters, no exhaust matinence, it's too clean, and too simple for them to make much of a profit. I wonder if they're talking about actually selling them this time or if they'll only lease them again....

Man you are way to cynical and I dont think you really understand how the market system works. DO you have a legitimate source about the electric Saturn car? If fuel prices continue to rise I guarantee every car company including GM will make some sort of alternative fuel vehicle.. electric, whatever... No maintenance? What about the new field of electrical engineers and other techs that will be employed to replace batteries, fix circuits, etc... No need to change oil? Who cares, anyone who pays to get their oil change is getting ripped off its so easy to do at home.

$35 billion Air Force contract awarded to European Aeronautic Defence and Space Co. and Northrop Grumman Corp.

The contract to replace 179 air-to-air refueling tankers is the first of three Air Force awards worth as much $100 billion to replace its entire fleet of nearly 600 tankers over the next 30 years.

This is what we buy from foreign countries

Obama doesn't have connections to major oil companies like Bush does, he's not gonna let the american people get fucked by oil companies who make billions of dollars a month

ahhh corporate taxes rear its ugly head..

let me explain it as simple as possible

if obama raises taxes on big business, that will include oil companys

if taxes go up, where are is the extra money coming from?

well gas prices will go up.

now i realize this is not a perfect example, but i dont have time to find sources and type a better answer..

I don't want to get into anything because debate on newschoolers is like throwing a bouncy ball at a brick wall, but profit margins for oil companies have increased significantly over the past few years. They are artificially inflating the price of oil and making a lot of money off of it. Its funny how we are fighting a war in iraq for supposed oil reserves even though we have more oil in western colorado then the entire middle east, plus vast reserves in alaska, canada, and the gulf of mexico. Oil executives are nothing but a collective of thieves taking money out of everyones pockets and nobody is doing anything to stop them. Anybody stop to wonder why diesel went from being 40 cents cheaper then regular in 2002 and before to being 60 cents more than premium today? and supply/demand is not a valid argument because demand for diesel has not increased in the US at all, sales remain under 5 percent of total car sales, and have been there for a while. supply isn't an issue at all, so why the 130% price jump compared to gas? price gouging.

i fail to see your logic??

i gather my information from a wide variety of news outlets... i dont take one persons word as truth, i get at least two points of view and then draw a conclusion.

so if you meant im just spewing what talk radio says, you couldn't be farther from the truth, sorry.

The jews did get over their holocaust. Jews are descriminated against, but they still manage to own and run major businesses including most of hollywood. Ive known lots of jews and none of them complain about the holocaust and that was much more recent than slavery (and don't give me that shit that jews look white, you can spot a jew from a mile away). The world is what you make it and one may find reasons to hate if they look hard enough. One may also find reasons for cooperation if they look hard enough. My point is you can cry poor me all day or you can get off your ass and make shit happen. Now as a woman in the middle east you do not have this luxury...that is opression.

to that first video, a lot of people have called hitler a great man. but not in the context you think. yes he did great things, but they were evil, that's what they mean and most likely that man meant it as well. its so easy to skew and take out of context what someone says.
